"Bobcat Sitting on Top of 40 Foot Tall Cactus in the Arizona Desert" "The mountain lion that was stalking him however just circled the base, stared upwards and growled for a few minutes before giving up and walking off." See: http://www.whitewolfpack.com/2016/0...if0Kq6ZGRdZ4kojgcdvMiAAm0zSFNX1Q7-IS6GbeEr5l4 Saguaros of that size are many hundreds of years old; it is said they rarely grow an "arm" before age 100! Neither type cat is commonly seen in the Desert, except perhaps at the higher mountainous elevations. What struck me is: How did the Bobcat not severely damage his foot pads negotiating those big spines? Frank
Thank you so much for the pictures - I guess that cat has hardy foot pads or reckoned the odds were better up there than down there Hope he's OK
@Bess Barber You are not familiar with cats' climbing abilities? Often, papers have published pictures of firemen rescuing a young kitten from high up in a tree, climbing up being easy, but down not so much. Squirrels climb downwards head first but cats' claws won't allow that directly. Frank
