In my life I've moved house more times than I can count as a child ! As an adult and naval wife, we moved home ...(married quarters)... and to different counties 6 times before we finally settled . I took it all in my stride..I don't know if I'd be so easy going about it now tho'..
My move from Texas to Maine was the first time that I hired a moving company. We got a big break on the cost because we used a moving company operated by a drug treatment center, where my wife had connections. Prior to that, I was able to move most everything I owned when I moved from California to Texas because my employer paid for the rental truck, but I had to load and unload it myself, then drive it to Texas. Otherwise, moving usually meant selling, giving away, or dumping pretty much everything that was unnecessary or heavy. The cost seems high to me, but it's probably not. Moving those big trucks from Florida to Colorado wouldn't be cheap, plus there are the labor costs, etc.
Tomorrow, my wife gives her employer her 3-week notice and, without a doubt, her supervisor is going to be shocked. She loves Jacksonville and Florida. I can just hear her supervisor right now asking, "why on earth would you want to go back to snow and cold weather?" My wife will then tell her what we miss about living in Colorado and, most likely, she won't understand any of it.
The only question I would have is you bearing the cost of the shuttle. Seems that is is their choice to use a 53' van. You say they will have multiple stops.
I think I'd have the truck back to the door of my apartment. What are they going to do? Kick you out?
Cody, I wish wish you and your misses loads of good luck. I've joked with you how everything is changed and nobody wears western garb anymore but tant so, and of course, you know better. Jokes aside. I hope everything falls into place and you guys are delighted wirth your move. Best wishes.
She must be a woman who knows how to keep a secret. I would've been blabbing about a move since Day 1!
Nope. The only people that it doesn't bother her to confront is credit card or bank people, when a mistake is made on a statement. She's right on the phone asking "what's going on?". But, in general, she doesn't like "confrontation" at all and really, really tries to avoid it. When I gave my 2-week Notice at my last job (in Denver, CO), my supervisor/director outright asked me "why would you want to leave Colorado?" My wife's co-workers, at her job in Colorado, were pretty stunned when they found out she was leaving and moving out of Colorado. Holly, there are supervisors that know a good worker when they see one, especially a worker who doesn't complain about anything, and hates losing them.
