I do have a vague memory of that quote but, for the life of me, I can't remember the program. Maybe I'll have to look for an episode on YouTube.

.. I'm trying to think of the American shows we got back then that my mum watched .... obviously we had our own home grown shows too...

    Double your money..

    Take your pick...

    This is you life

    Benny Hill show

    Z Cars...

    The Sweeney...

    The Duchess of Duke street...

I watched all of those American shows.. Had a pimply faced crush on Elizabeth Montgomery. I never took to Space family Robinson.
As for the UK shows..of which Australia purchased quite a few ..the ZCars spin off Softly Softly. Gideon's Way and Dixon of Dock Green among them. You have not mentioned perhaps two of the best Brit shows of the 60s.. The Avengers and The Prisoner. I rewatched every Avengers episode a couple of years ago.. this certainly has not dated.. John Steed and Emma Peel rule! There was also a brilliant 70s crime/mystery series called Thriller. Did you see this.

Not that it means a damn thing, but Rod Serling is buried in a small town cemetery about 5 miles from me. His sister used to display his late fifties Jaguar at a lot of the local car shows.
