My neighbor asked me if I wanted this cart because she had no use for it so I welcomed to take it home. Storage in our kitchen wasn't built for families today so I was pleased to have something to accommodate my need for it. The problem is trying to figure out how to keep this cart from leaning to one side. I used wood glue because the screws kept coming loose. That didn't work. Then I thought braces would help, not. At least not where I thought they should be anchored. My thoughts are to drill new holes, eh. Any suggestions?
Is it leaning because the screw holes are wallowed out, Von? I think you can use toothpicks and maybe a bit of wood glue to fill in the holes.
True Value, Lowes, or pretty much any hardware or lumber place should have something that's described as liquid wood or something of the sort. It's something that could be used to fill the holes that are likely stripped out. After it dries, it forms something very much like wood, which could presumably be redrilled. If the problem is that the original screws were simply screwed into the wood, you might be able to drill all the way through and use a screw with a washer and nut on the inside part of the cart, where it isn't seen. In that way, you could tighten it as much as you needed to.
I tried the wood glue it worked for a minute then began leaning again after moving the cart around. I didn't think of using something like toothpicks.
It has been very useful relieving me from using a step ladder to get to the top shelf at ceiling height.
After I finished stopping up exterior cracks to keep rain water coming into the cold storage area in my basement I moved on to do the inside. While working on it I thought 'Hmmm another project - start purging. I started that and ended up doing this as well. .
@Von Jones The handle came off my coffee pot a couple of days ago. I thought of you when I floral wired it back on. I wish I had a basement. We don't have much, if any, of that in Florida. Does it get damp to the point of mildewing things or does that just happen in the swamp land I'm used to?
@Bess Barber, lol. The basement only gets wet when there is a long and heavy rain or more than one day of rain. I'm quick to use my shop vac when it happens. I walked barefoot into the storage room and the carpet I laid was wet that was last year. Of course I only used it to store seasonal items and items t sell when I set up at the flea market and then members of my family left things and never came back for them. Then my mother passed da ta da ta da... So after looking at lots of Youtube videos I found this product and I'm praying it stops the rain from coming into the storage room. I patched up a lot of cracks I found inside and out.
Cut it out, @Von Jones !! Now I feel like a slug. (But only because I AM a slug; it's rained all day and I stay plastered in a chair with my book.)
