    I always liked The Rockford Files with James Garner. Also Charlie's Angels, WKRP in Cincinnati, Mork and Mindy, Dallas, Sanford and Son, All in the Family.

    Little House on the Prairie and The Waltons for me. I also loved The Carol Burnett show...she made me laugh a lot.

    I liked all of those aside from Sanford and son..it was based on the British TV show Steptoe & son... , so we didn't get Stanford & son here, altho' I have seen clips of it on youtube. :)

    We still get the first 2 on rolling repeat, I liked them both altho' I prefered the Waltons.. , I still watch the occasional episode , it's a very soothing show...

    ...... we never did get the Carol Burnett show, but I've seen her act, and her humour is very different to British humour so I don't think it would have been popular here..

    Well, I did it. I came upon Perry Mason when I was perusing Amazon Prime Videos and I’ve been stuck ever since.
    Shot during the late 50’s and early 60’s, it’s like a real trip back in time. Women are dressed in real skirts and dresses, men had haircuts and dressed in suits, kids at school were also neatly dressed.
    Men, women and kids alike say Yes sir, no sir, thank you and please.

    Everyone smokes including the telephone switchboard operators right up to medical doctors.

    Oh and the Jazz! Big band jazz in the background sets the mood for each scene. Love it!

    And the cars! Everyone who is anyone drives a convertible and with no seat belts.
    One episode had a Sunbeam convertible in it and just for kicks I looked it up on google. Some of those convertibles now go for as little as a few hundred dollars up to one that’s priced to sell for over 300K.

    Like I wrote, it’s a trip back in time. A little glamorized perhaps but each episode is a good mystery and of course, murder is the prime object of appreciation. Will the district attorney, Hamilton Burger, finally win a case? Probably not because Perry Mason is the defending attorney.

    I was ill over the weekend and caught an episode of a show that was greatly loved by our first four children--The Greatest American Hero. I thought it was silly at the time and even referred to it as "Silly Guy", but it was neat to see it again. Anybody remember it?

    I can still remember that Perry Mason theme music, and the intro to The Rockford Files.

    To stray a bit from that, there is a current series on Netflix called Stranger Things; it is a period drama set in the 1980s and is a very popular show. There is "social outrage" because so many of the characters smoke, so once again the producers have caved and will change history to make the show watered down for snowflakes. :rolleyes: So now it will appear that no one smoked in the 1980s in future episodes.

    @Patsy Faye.
    I was not aware this show existed until I stumbled upon it online Patsy. These stories are evidently based on fact. I found them both creepy and fascinating .. along with the host John Newland whom I had never seen before this. There is also a later version. Have you seen this? John is now white haired and the series is in color.

    I binge-watched it a year or so ago. I hadn't seen most of the episodes and didn't mind watching the others over again. It was silly but in an entertaining sort of way.
