    I had to finally look up "noir." . So far I've never had to know what it meant. I just pretended the word wasn't there and life seemed to go on just fine. That search led me to the "hardboiled" genre, and I'm more confused. Sorry I ever looked it up now. ;)

    Anyway, I think this one fits.

    Nancy it is short for "film noire".. a French expression meaning dark film or thereabouts. I suspect that is because most of the scenes are shot at nite or in dim lite..

    This looks like The Postman Always Rings Twice. Lana Turner and John Garfield.

    Not really a western. The setting was supposed to be the state of Indiana, at the beginning of the U.S. Civil War.
