So Kevin Gallegos, was one of the youngest @age 27 on the NASA team at Honeysuckle creek , and now he's 77 years old.. unsurprisingly , he said in the article that many of the team had already passed away..but I would be fascinated to know who are still alive and to have them interviewed... !!

The Canberra Deep Space Communication Complex (CDSCC) is an Earth station in Australia located at Tidbinbilla in the A.C.T. Opened in 1965, the complex was used for tracking the Apollo Lunar Module during the historic Moon Landing in 1969.

. It is part of the Deep Space Network of NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), managed in Australia by the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO).

The complex..to my knowledge.. is still in operation today. At least it was in 2010 (see below)

Interesting indeed @Holly Saunders. Will look into it.

This may throw some lite onto your query Holly.

    Don Gray.

Mike Dinn from Honeysuckle Creek tracking station and David Cooke from CSIRO’s Parkes radio telescope played crucial roles in a TV broadcast seen by 600 million people. Watch their stories and learn from CSIRO’s Dr Sarah Pearce how Apollo 11 shaped her life and that of countless other scientists.

Fabulous Craig, thank you very much for that.. :D

I was fascinated also to hear the Directors voice, and realise he was English.. yaayyy.... but what a great piece of history for Australia, and it should be more publicised, but now, so many people are talking about it here in the UK since the media got a hold of it... :D

    My pleasure Holly.
His second in charge was an Aussie by the name of John Saxon. He too was interviewed in the video you were unable to access. Why this was very hushed up is a mystery to we Australians.

I will post on the Australian 50th Anniversary celebrations while you people sleep.
