Congratulations. It looks as if they succeeded despite their upbringing, or maybe because of it. Good work!
Mental illness doesn't run in my family so I don't know of anyone who will be voting Democrat in 2020.
My family are all Democrat with the exception of my father and one brother. My father is a Republican in name only. He could not bring himself to vote for trump so he sat out the 2016. He says that 2020 he will vote Democrat just because of his disgust at what trump represents. The other a brother is a loud garrulous truck driver that rants and raves about "snowflakes and libtards". He is really an asshole and I would have serious problems with him , but for the fact that I found out he is not registered and does not vote. It may come as a surprise for some that I usually vote republican in the state and local elections. My reasoning for that is that I like socialist government programs that the Dems support for the common good. I then depend on the state and locals to temper those policies.
Only have 1 family member besides me my son if something is free he wants it ! We do not talk politics as our lives are so very different, he a problem waiting to surface daily, now I do have many friends mostly all doctors and law enforcement types other than 1, all Republican types of people. Borrowing from another post the best reply I have seen : Mental illness doesn't run in my family OR FRIENDS so I don't know of anyone who will be voting Democrat in 2020.
Funny, but on Sunday AM, as my wife was watching Pastor John Hagee on her laptop, I looked at her and said, "wonder if Hagee is hated as much as Trump?" Hagee does his share of yelling at his congregation as Trump does at CNN! She voted for Trump and me, well...….I'll never tell. LOL We talk very little politics between us, but my wife's sister is ALWAYS wondering (asking me on the phone) about why President Trump is doing this or that. One thing that wife and I totally agree on is...….Trump and Immigration Control.
Hi, neighbor!! I wish we were a separate country; at least we'd have our border secured. We already have our own electrical grid.
I'm the only sane one among my siblings. My brother and sister are both liberal democrats. Both want free everything, neither made much for themselves. My sister and I get along very well in spite of her mental illness (liberalism). My brother doesn't talk to me at all. My daughter and her family all very conservative like me.
My brother just retired in the Netherlands and is now living in Germany. He’s been living in Europe for around 30 years now so whatever he has to say about American politics I really do not care. He doesn’t have any blood in the game so we do not talk politics. As for me, if a guy can’t work out the small things in his own personal and working life, then why on earth would I vote for him (or her) to play in the big leagues? I like to take the labels off of the candidates and simply ask myself if they have shown that have the U.S. Citizen’s best interests at heart and are the planks on their platform doable. Is he party driven or is he a person who does and will cast his own shadow over the whole lot. It’s a given that a candidate has to declare his party affiliation to win in any election but if I see that he’s his own man with enough stamina to get knocked down and still get up swinging and with a good plan to beat the odds, chances are, I’m going to lean that direction.
