As I was sitting here really trying to convince myself that this bowl of plain popcorn is hitting the spot before high blood sugar messed up my previously happy eating habits, I dreamed of this: If there was no restraint regarding health or weight diets, what is your idea of a perfect dessert? Or maybe you have several.
I have a sweet tooth and would be hard-pressed to find a dessert that I don't like. That said, my personal favorites are egg custards, custard pie, flan, Crème brûlée, etc.
One of my favorite desserts is chocolate delight, made with a shortbread crust, chocolate pudding with cream cheese, whipped cream (I don't buy Cool Whip) and topped with toasted pecans.
@Emma Smith As a kid, my Mother often made a concoction for me she called "Toffee Dessert". It was frozen in an ice cube tray without the metal squares. It was not hard like ice cream, however, was chocolaty and wonderful. I have her recipe in her recipe box. I'll post it if asked. Frank
The Toffee Dessert sounds delicious @Frank Sanoica. My mother used to make ice cream in metal ice trays when I was a child. Later on, we had an ice cream maker that you cranked. I would like the recipe if it's no trouble.
Give me a bowl of top-grade chocolate ice cream sprinkled with salted nuts and I'll die happy. Sweet, creamy, salty, crunchy and cold....the perfect combination.
New Turkey Hill Trio'politan Ice Cream: Caramel, chocolate and vanilla. Best ice cream I've ever tasted, including from ice cream parlors.
It's a cake that is popular to take to pig pickins. My sister makes the best ones ever. The layer has crushed mandarin oranges in it and I don't know what else. The frosting has Cool Whip, crushed pineapple and I don't know what else in it. I'm sure there a some recipes online. And, before you ask; a pig pickin' is when somebody cooks a whole pig on a big grill like thingamabob. Then has a group of people over to eat. The pig is sort of chopped up an left on the skin. Guests use forks or tongs to pick up the meat and place it on their plate.
