@Eitan Winer ......stay busy. Although my hubby and I have each other..and a grown child staying with us for a bit- I am volunteering some of my time to stay social and be helpful. There are many things you can do to add some zest and lively hood too your life. In the mean time join in on the discussions on this forum

Welcome to the Forum @Eitan Winer. I have had my share of being alone. I have never been able to accept it. This probably stems from something I did decades ago which I have never forgotten. It was in the late 70s during my UK/European sojourn or what a single Aussie called a "rite of passage". Due to several unforeseen circumstances..I was forced to leave Geneva, Switzerland alone and hitch hike to France were I planned to visit the wine districts. This hitch instead turned into a walk as far as the French border as there were no cars going my way at this time of nite. It is not a huge distance.. but after midnite and with no other sound bar the eerie whirring of electricity running thru the wires it seemed to take an age. I also had to lug around a rather cumbersome backpack. It is times like this that you evaluate your life. I ended up falling exhausted in a field. I discovered next morning I was actually in France. . After discovering that there were no trains that early and continuing my journey by foot wishing for a quick lift I hoped I would never feel loneliness like that ever again.. and I never have.
@Craig Swanson Such a sojourn took wits and nerve. I envy you for it, as it parallels thoughts I have had often over the years of "going over the mountain". I still try to believe I will carry it through, at such time that dying seems imminent. Frank
Hello Eitan and welcome There are many outlets for people that are isolated, as Gloria said, volunteering is good Also many outlets for people to meet and socialise, just a matter of looking

Welcome! I'm not sure products or services is what someone needs when they are lonely or feeling isolated. You can enjoy the forum and make some online friends to hang out with, but there are services and other outlets if you are feeling depressed and just need someone to talk to face to face. Being alone is easier for some people than others. Sometimes, you just have to reach out to the people around you and let them know.

@Frank Sanoica. I watched a doco/drama last nite based on a true story about a American family lost in desert near the Mexican border after their SUV became bogged. They almost "went over the mountain". The saying is if something like this happens in a remote place to never leave your vehicle. This family did and almost paid for their mistake with their lives.Towards the end of their ordeal they had gone without water for four days in the sweltering heat and their bodies were shutting down. Usually the only people in that location were Mexican people traffickers but amazingly a customer of the man happened to be driving by. He was saved but he had left his new wife and two step daughters to find help and unbeknown to him they had followed his trail. So he sent the rescuers in the wrong direction.Valuable time was wasted when he realised he had sent police the wrong way. Eventually they changed their search location and drove past a desperate mother who now painfully weak from severe dehydration was unable to stand and was not seen. It took rescuers another two hours to find the family.. amazingly she and her oldest daughter had survived. But sadly her five year old had succumbed to kidney failure and died.
@Craig Swanson Actually the scenario you described is not highly unusual in these parts. We are located a bit less than 200 miles from the Mexican border, and the intervening desert is vast and traveled only on main highways, of which there are few. Folks have perished here on foot even in winter, but not from the cold. There is a haunting, desolate feeling present when one treks out into the Desert, unlike that which is there when in the woods of, say, Maine. Frank
