I would like to see subdirectories For Men Only and For Women Only. There are topics that are appealing to both that may otherwise be uninteresting to the opposite gender. Maybe if approved there could be a poll on headings.

    What do you think?

Are you referring to areas of the forum that would only be accessible to men or to women? That could be done, although it would only work for those who have chosen either the male or female options in their profile. Or are you referring to sections that are labeled in that way, but which people of either gender could access and read?

How about if I make it so that anyone can view it, but posting would be gender-based? I'd rather not hide any content from the spiders, at least not until this forum becomes better established.

I have mixed feeling on that as I have seen it done on other forums and in time there is a great separation of the "family."

I don't quite see the purpose of doing this. If the forums can still be read by anyone; but only answered by the proper allowed sex; what would possibly be discussed in those topics ? Obviously, neither men nor women are apt to discuss anything personal, since it can still be read by anyone in the whole world (just not answered). And if it is not something sensitive, then why stop anyone from participating in the discussion who is interested in the topic ?
We all have a choice in which topics we are interested in; so if women are talking about beauty products (as an example) and men could care less about the topic, they simply will ignore that thread, and post in one that they are interested in. If the guys are talking about their new chain saw, and women are not interested, they don't bother to respond.
So what is the benefit of blocking someone who might want to post in a topic ?

I don't think blocking anyone is a good idea, but what about having "Women's Interest" and "Men's Interest" as categories? That way if a woman wants to read about woodwork or a man in interested in sewing, they're welcome there, but if not, they know to stay away.

I'm still not convinced that these are necessary sections. It would be easy enough to set it up but I'm still not sure if there's a need for it. I'm waiting to hear from others.

I could see it, kind of like a place for women to discuss "female" problems like menopause. These issues sometimes scare off men. Don't know what men would discuss that would bother women though - and still be clean.

You might put a prefix on the thread title on certain categories, like Health, that could read Women or Men? That way, anyone can read it, but we'd be warned that it has to do with gender issues.

I agree with you Yvonne, great insight. Besides, I'm one of the women who enjoys talking about things such as cars and tools; so I'm actually prone to respond to such (male oriented) threads.

I understand the present forums responses but looking forward at new members joining. Some may feel more comfortable responding to such sub-directories.

Hmmmphhh! It's another fine mess we have here. Ever since I was a teen, women have plagued me by telling me I know nothing about how they feel while at the same time keeping whatever is was they were feeling a secret!

I am very, very sure that if you ladies would like to talk about menopause (yup, a guy said it, men-o-pause...there!)
and the thread said something like, "hot flashes and menopause," I doubt if we guys are going to be that interested. Now, if the thread said, "hot flashes!" we might consider peeking at what makes you hot, and then read menopause, after which we probably wouldn't go any further. Don't forget ladies, we guys here are old enough to know more than enough about such subjects as to not want to mess around with them again. We men are not brave enough to tell you ladies our side of most of those stories, and actually are not even brave enough to talk about it to each other. We have been warned in all of the articles regarding PTSD about doing such things.

I'm also sure that if a thread said, "the finer points of flatulation, by Bubba," you ladies already have enough take, (or intake) of it not to want to mess with that either.

There's a lot to be learned by listening (reading) to each other. For instance, ladies, did you know that when you cast on to your knitting needle, all you are doing is making a half clove hitch? I'm a guy and I know this and can demonstrate how to cast on to your needle faster than you probably can by having this information. I don't want to keep it a secret any longer. All of us guys have known it for centuries but here I am, trying to make to truce, and giving up the secret. I'll be hated by all men by doing it, but guys, it is for the better good.
The next secret up for negotiations is, "why we really don't want to put the toilet seat down." I will start it off by wanting to know why you ladies do not want to put the toilet seat "up?" Who wants to start this thread? Me.

To be serious, if there is something so valuable to only 2 or 3 people there is always email or the pm portion of this forum. There is literally nothing that us old guys are not well familiar with and the same goes for the sweethearts of our lives. Just make the thread gender specific and I am sure that the other gender will stay out of it. except maybe me.......just kidding! (if my wife thinks what I say is worth while, she can post it for me)
After all, a forum is nothing more than a sandbox full of kids building castles. Your castle may be different than mine, but it's the same sand.

Now, about the future old folks? They can read this reply and get their hemorrhoid cushions situated just like us.

Don't know. Seriously. By the time this particular boy turned into a man it was war, then after war, it was family and work. No....boys night out.

Since my living stemmed from Food and Beverage, I found at a very early stage in my adult life that married men and married women tend to get into trouble when left unattended by their prospective "keepers." Slinging drinks can be a teaching experience.

I was only waxing whimsically when I replied to this thread, but if you perhaps re-read it there is a lot of truth to the subject. Just yesterday I sat on my porch while listening to my wife and her friend talk about a lot of "lady stuff." I just simply kept my two cents to myself. I didn't interact by talking about jock straps while they were talking about bra sizes. I didn't even interact while they were comparing their earlier lives, which by the by, we do all have earlier lives but I realized that they were talking about earlier lives as girls. The only thing I could have possibly responded with is how I interreacted with girls in My earlier life which would have been a no-no because I am a married man who values peace and serenity.

I really do not care what Ken does with this forum in regard to your request. I am just merely stating a simple fact. You might be cutting off your nose to spite your wonderfully pretty face. There's a lot to know about us guys that I am sure you have never heard nor possibly want to but the information is out there if ever needed. Hmmmm...
For instance, did you know that an extremely high testasterone level in men can affect the glands in his nose thereby creating a "bulbous" nose? It's called a WC Field nose but has nothing to do with alcohol. Betcha didn't know that. See? If I put that in a guys only board you would have never suspected that a guy with a big nose might actually be pretty sexy instead of an alcolholic!
Another one............Do you know why womens blouses and mens shirts button on opposite sides? Simple. Women used to have hand maids who would button their blouses for them and lace their corsets and help them with other undergarments. By putting the buttons on the opposite side the hand maid could button the blouse or whatever easier. Now, do you know who invented the brassier? I do and a lot more and I am a man and a heavy duty student of women because of the joys of marriage and the absolute need for information.
The only thing you gals have managed to keep secret from us guys is the location of your "Yet."
I now have proof that women have one and I want to know where it is. The other day the news said that a woman got into a car crash and was injured but the surgeon didn't have to operate on her "yet." Now,......Where Is It?
