We have rural mail delivery, and our box is about a mile away. It is serviced by a contract carrier, not the USPS itself. Occasionally we notice that the carrier takes a long weekend and delivers nothing on a Friday and Saturday to go fishing or whatever. To get packages, we have to drive 20+ miles to pick it up at a depot, so when UPS and Fedex drop the packages in the mail for delivery, it definitely delays delivery. Most of the time, the parcel services deliver to our door. It is an innovation that occurred when Amazon became prominent. Prior to Amazon, Fedex particularly would "save the packages" for a week or more before delivering to our area. Now the volume has gone up. Amazon now has their own plane fly into Anchorage, and that actually slows down delivery out here, although it allegedly services Anchorage better. Does anyone remember Newman???
@Bess Barber Love it! Jerry always growled a greeting and Newman was not quite as subversive. The greatest line we recall was that Seinfeld stated that his entire thing was a "show about nothing". Do you remember the "Soup Nazi"? Frank
Not really. While there were some funny episodes, I wasn't too crazy about it, either. My wife loved it so I have seen a lot of it but I could have done without it.
@Beth Gallagher Hell, I didn't say I LIKED it! Forced to be there as my wife loved it, re-runs, and re-re-runs! Frank
@Bess Barber Notable for it's up-front addressing of Jewish culture, just as Mel Brooks did in "History of the World". No doubt infuriated many Jewish folks who refuse to take a bit of satire. To use the term "Nazi" likely topped the cake! Implied the Nazi soup guy denied food to the Jewish. I did not find that to be particularly funny. Frank
I guess they'll have to "scrub" all the Seinfeld reruns to remove any reference to the Nazi. Heaven knows half of America has lost any sense of humor they might have had.
We loved Seinfeld. I personally thought of the sitcom as a show about nothing. Sometimes there was somethings that I didn't understand to get the punchline which reference to the Jewish culture but hey I don't get somethings about the African American culture on television.
