For me, it's Lee Van Cleef.

    He was 6'2" but I'm STILL 6'2"!

It's hard for me to pick one favorite western actor, there were so many.
I would never have picked Van Fleet because he wore a black hat,
signifying he was a bad guy athough probably a better actor than many
    white hats.

I agree. Some of the stars in westerns weren't very good actors, and some of the good actors just didn't seem to fit as cowboys. John Wayne was a pretty good actor and fit western parts well. .. One character actor I always liked was Ward Bond. He was good in any part he played.

Another actor who is not known for Western roles is Glenn Ford !

See him in 3:10 to Yuma in a "bad guy" role.

Oh, there are sooooooo many! I don't know if any of them are a favorite since I didn't watch westerns on a regular basis, but I think
    Glenn Ford was quite popular.

It was Van Cleef, not Van Fleet.

Hmmmm. I agree with Von; Clint Eastwood. But I also liked James Garner.

Now Garner is one of my very favorites. Did you know he's from the town where I now live. And Glenn Ford is a favorite too. I know there's more but I can't think of their names. I used to go to the Gem theatre on Ohio Street down on skid row. You could get a big Wimpy's hamburger, a coke and fries, and still have money left over from a quarter to see a show. I got a quarter every Saturday. Of course dad always reminded me the quarter is not free; you have to earn it. I used to hope Ward Bond was in the movie. I forget when Ward Bond became a favorite. I think it may have been when he played in Wagon Train, I think it was.

Mickey Mouse! Everybodie's memories seems to be working but mine. You don't
think anyone would forget Sam Elliot. For years now Sam has been the standard
    others are judged by.

Clint Eastwood & John Wayne They are suitably raunchy compared to other clean cut types like James Stewart, Glenn Ford,

Sam Elliott's voice is too high and squeaky.
