Filet Mignon

    Last night my wife surprised me with a Filet Mignon Steak, which she cooked medium rare.

    Now THIS is a steak I can chew as easily as the tenderized Country Fried Steak I always order at Steer & Stein.

    She always serves me around 8 o'clock in my bedroom Recliner with a serving tray, which makes a most comfortable dining experience while watching my favorite evening TV shows.

    We go out to a restaurant every Wednesday or Thursday, and the other days I'm served in my bedroom recliner.

    I'm well taken care of !

    I love Filet Mignon, but would rather have a nice Prime Rib or Rib Eye.

    My wife can cook, and makes absolutely delicious spaghetti, potato salad and pancakes, but the rest of the home cooking is left up to me. She loves my fried potatoes and totally enjoys each time I make a dinner.

    We don't go out much, but will be visiting Longhorn Steakhouse and Outback here. I got a birthday gift certificate to each, but saved both to use here in northern Colorado.

    I like to have my dinner on a tray while in my living room recliner while watching the evening news but have no wife to bring it to me. I have one of the staff bring it to me as one of my Assisted Living benefits. I have no problem chewing any good meat at this point.

    @Hal Pollner It doesn't bother your sleeping by eating your big meal so late? If I don't eat dinner by 4 pm, I may as well just eat a snack.
    Then again, no one is serving it to me in my recliner. Sounds like you have the good life.

    The first time I saw a Thompson was in California in 1951, down in San Diego at the Marine Corp Recruit Depot.
    I had seen them in movies but not the real McCoy.

    Seems Hal's is one of the later models offered for sale maybe in the '90s? They are distinguishable from the 1920s and WW-II-made Thompsons in a number of ways, but none cosmetically: longer barrel, semi-auto only, much different internal mechanism, fired with a hammer instead of from an "open-bolt". Last gun show I attended, a guy had several for sale, priced from $1000 to $2000 dollars. The "real item", like I bought in 1975 and sold in 1988 now goes for "sky's the limit", $ 20,000 +.

    Full-auto fire "ran" at about 600 rounds per minute. The MAC-10 Machine Pistol, designed for police forces and clandestine special operations fires at roughly double that: 1200 rounds per minute. Empties a 32 round magazine in a few seconds. Thompsons often utilized the drum magazines which held 50 to 100 rounds, but were prone to malfunction more often than "stick" masgazines.

    Here is a MAC-10 Submachine Gun with it's collapsible wire shoulder stock extended, and the usually-accompanying Sionics Corp. Suppressor (commony, "Silencer"), attached.

    It took me a while to figure out the correlation between having a steak and having a Thompson.

    Fortunately, I do not need a weapon of any kind in order for my wife to bring me a good plate of food she has prepared whether it is steak or whatever.
    I just thought that all married guys get that kind of service once in a while the same as all married ladies do when their husbands cook.
    I am indeed a very blessed man!

    That half-pound Filet Mignon I had cost only 6 bucks! ($12 a pound at Staters)

    It was sure worth it for the Tenderness!

    (I wonder why Steer & Stein doesn't have that on the Menu...they have RibEye, but it's too tough for me.)

    What differences exist between a very dedicated wife, and a very foolish wife? My wife will unhesitatingly bring something I need to my recliner, especially if health-related. However, if I EXPECTED or DEMANDED that she bring me let's say, a prepared meal, I might glimpse Hell sooner than I expected!
