Women’s clothing has gone through so many innovations like the corset, bra, slips, hoops, full length dresses to the mini skirt but it would seem that the one greatest innovation to men’s clothing is the Clip on Tie.

I loved the tie that I am wearing in this picture taken at Emerald Bay, Lake Tahoe, California 1993.

I have always favored the Windsor Knot

Another exception was Harry Truman, or maybe we were just used to seeing it.

Truman and the bow tie he wore when he was sworn in as president, April 12, 1945.

Harry S. Truman, left, in a photograph taken circa 1920 at the haberdashery he and a friend, Eddie Jacobson, founded in Kansas City, Mo. Though the store had early success, by the spring of 1922 it had failed, a victim of the postwar economic bust and other factors.CreditCreditAssociated Press

I always remind myself of the time when I was about 3 or possibly 4 years old and received a pair of socks and a new bow tie for Christmas and nothing more than that.
At the time, I guess it was quite enough for indeed, I had not worn a tie of any kind until then so I think it sort of made me feel like a grown up.

A bow tie and Grandma’s custard pie......man, what a treat!
