As an artist, I always wonder why people gravitate towards certain colors. I'm not referring to a particular color which is just trendy at the time, but a color they have always preferred and identified as 'their color'. I also wonder if everyone sees a color the same way? There would be no way of telling if the way I see blue is the same way someone else sees it. Maybe this is why their favorite color is blue and mine isn't. What is your favorite color? Do you wear it, buy cars that color or decorate your house incorporating it? For our UK club members :
COLOUR!!! Lemon..I love lemon. Not custard Yellow, or mustard, but pale lemon... !! I love all shades of Blue too.... , and Pink is a favourite (not to wear but I have it in my bedroom) However aside from the pale lemon on 3 walls in my livingroom and a very few matching accessories ... and a few little summer tops, I don't decorate with it in my house!! I wear a lot of Blue... but again I don't decorate with it in my house aside from a pale polka dot Blue window blind in one of the bathrooms !! ETA and the bathroom towels are blue, white and turquoise
Pastels for most things. Lavender and pale yellow for bath and main bedroom. I wear blue mostly with gray, light blue, and pink tops. Blue or gray jeans but skirts dark black/brownish red. @Bess Barber what art do you do? My favorite paints are acrylic because of all the crazy colors you can make without waiting and the over washes. I was never good with oils. My last paintings a few years ago were portraits in black and white I did for a show.
I guess I don't have a single favorite color, but I gravitate to neutrals and earth tones in everything from decorating to my clothing.
RR..I'm not super keen on green per se...but I really like the green you have on your livingroom walls... I've though that when we paint the livingroom next spring, we'll put a pale green on the feature wall where the fireplace is...
Must admit, my weakness is black, solid black, many types of patterns as long as there is black as well, these are my attire favorites...With decor, i do many shades of browns, taupe, my walls are a true color of baking Cocoa, appliances are black, kitchen/dining chairs are black, all sorts of end, sofa, side tables are black iron/with different colors of slate tiles. Do you think i did a overkill on black . I did leave my ceilings white. I am a dark and rich color girl. The favorite colors you all like are equally as nice. All our colors form a " Rainbow of Life ".......not totally sure, but i don't think black is considered a color.
@Ruby Begonia Love #5 that dusty green! A friend bought a new car in a metallic dusty green. So beautiful!
You're correct , Black is considered the absence of colour!! I used to have black furniture about 20 years ago.. and white walls. ..In the kitchen I had Black granite counters.. but now I prefer the lighter colour range for my house. Almost all my walls are a latte / fawn colour, ( my husbands idea) except in the livingroom, I absolutely refused to have beige in there. SO I have lemon on 3 walls, and really good quality red wallpaper on one long wall , but I'm gonna change all that next spring!
My favorite color is white. I love to walk into a room and just see white. This is not my living room, but it's pretty close. I do have this furniture, without the ridiculous animal print pillows. I used to have a white rug, but I got too nervous when people walked on it and changed to gray.
@Bess Barber Your room looks stunning. It's not that i don't like other colors, just do colors that make me happy. I think we all react to different colors differently. Do what makes us feel comfy.
I guess that is why I asked the question. I don't like ANY colors and wonder why? When I was a kid, my mom thought maybe I was colorblind. I colored pretty much everything in white and black. I have friends who ask me why I don't incorporate a pop of color, and I kinda thought gray was my pop. People have come up with some psychological reasons for this, but I've never found all people who like red to be loud and boisterous. So, I'm not sure what causes each of us to have personal preferences.
