Doesn't look like he barks either. However, if someone tried to break in, they might trip and knock him against the door...thus making a sound. He may serve a good guard dog purpose regardless.
@Jerry Adams A most worthy little revolver! Light, alloy frame, as I recall, chambered for .44 Special caliber. But, only 5 round capacity. I re-thought long ago, the carrying of a revolver, though they are inherently more trouble-free, after considering the possibility of being set upon by several hoodlums at once. Was S&W 669, 9mm, for many years, 13 rounds capacity; now S&W SW40VE, .40 S&W caliber, the successor design to their first polymer frame, the Sigma. 15 rounds capacity. Frank
well we've had 3 or 4 , our first was an Alsation named King!! ... this is Zeus and he was PTS 3 months ago aged 14 !! Incidentally this is a genuine backdrop at my daughters' mountain home, many people think it's a photographers' screen ....
Guard dogs? Well, maybe. We have a couple of Blue Heeler dominant mixed breeds and a poodle which bark a lot at nearly anything that moves. They specialize in terrorizing opossums and the occasional cat and the poodle did kill a rat so yeah, I guess we have guard dogs.
Ha !!! we have a miniature labradoodle who thinks he's a LION (he weighs 10 kilos) .. lol.. but he's such a sweetheart really... pixie the chihuahua will make a token effort at barking, but if you look at her sideways she runs for the comfort of my daughters lap...
This is the ferocious (not) miniature labradoodle (Stanley) .. with Zeus, and pixie the chihuahua here he is , barely as tall as my plant pots!!...however he thinks he's as big as the real Guard dogs ...and he tells them off if they get out of hand..lol
more..Doberman , Belgian Malinois ( both trained guard dogs ) and a staffy... who would lick you to death but people are wary of the breed..
Staffordshire bull terriers ( staffy's ) are not by nature an angry dog, they're just the opposite these days. Historically they were bred for fighting, but aside from a few unscrupulous owners staffy's although fiercely loyal, and brave, are now a great family dog, and very people orientated... they're often mistaken for Pit Bulls... which are on the dangerous dogs list, but then we rescued one of those, and he was a sweetheart even tho' he'd gone through hell in the first part of his life. That said he had to be watched around other dogs, we couldn't have him and the Dobie anywhere near each other. ..so they had to be kept in separate kennels and exercised at different times.. but he played really well with all the other dogs, big and small However any dog can be vicious in the hands of the wrong breeders or owners, so it's always wise to be cautious around dogs you don't know..
