From the Washington Post: House Speaker Nancy Pelosi plans to announce a formal impeachment inquiry into President Trump, a dramatic turnaround by the Democratic leader that sets up a constitutional and political clash pitting the Congress against the nation’s chief executive. Pelosi (D-Calif.) is slated to make her announcement later on Tuesday after a closed-door meeting with her Democrat caucus, according to Democratic officials who spoke on the condition of anonymity to freely describe private deliberations. “As soon as we have the facts, we’re ready. Now that we have the facts, we’re ready,” Pelosi said at a forum hosted by The Atlantic. “For later today.” The big announcement is scheduled for 5:00 this afternoon. I suspect they might wish they hadn't done that.
I suspect if they don't do that, then they will be complicit with Trump in ending our Democracy and Constitution as we know it, as we have always known it.
I believe that impeachment will cost them a lot of seats in the next election. Pelosi thinks so, too. That's why she has been against it so strongly.
Que sera, sera. The man should be investigated for high crimes and misdemeanors. Not to do so is being complicit. Anyway, it is amusing to take advice from repubs on this matter. It's not like you have the Democratic Party's best interests at heart.
Pelosi. Democratic officials speaking in anonymity. Closed doors. Secret meetings. Sounds like a seedy reality TV episode. If Trump has broken the law to the point of impeachment, then shout it from the rooftop with proof.
I know you've forgotten, but there actually are legal procedures. Twitter is not one of them. Neither is shouting from rooftops.
Well, Shirl, if you concentrated on the legalities of which we are governed, you would understand. There are actually real rules set forth consitutionally and by statute. Governance by Twitter and shouting don't apply. Reread Watergate or something.
