Here in the Pacific NW it is common. Fashion experts (self proclaimed) in Washington and Oregon still argue over what state made it famous. Probably neither IMO. I think the Egyptians started it a long time ago. Years ago (as a town dweller) when I found great secure walking sandals, I started wearing my sandals with light socks until freezing weather. This morning my feet welcomed a cool fall. I like this look for women, but the guys with knee high white socks, sandals, and knee length baggy suspender supported shorts, don't capture the look I like for guys. Not even at Oktoberfest with Bavarian dancing and beer. I can't drink enough beer anymore to get the right attitude for that look.
Dunno. That said, I do wear toe socks and maybe I might try sandals with them..... Uh....don’t knock the socks! I’ll probably never buy another pair of tube socks again!
@Bobby Cole If you are brave enough to actually wear THAT, maybe @Yvonne Smith should get you a pair of these:
No, those just wouldn’t look fashionable at the gym. That said, I AM thinking about getting a pair of men’s sandals. Maybe the ancient Roman style might fit the bill........nawww.......
Yup. The more colorful ones I wear to the gym and the more expensive black ones I wear for other times. For the most part, I really do not need shoes at the gym and the toe socks allow me a lot more grip than regular tube socks.
I've worn socks with Birkenstock sandals for decades (in winter, which is typically 4 days in December or January).
