@Holly Saunders Well, I admire your fashion look so your advice I take seriously. However if you knew the progress I was making, then the socks and sandals might be more in your favor. So on a cool fall morning 4 years ago a friend calls me to say her bath ceiling fan is just humming and not turning. Her husband has damaged his shoulder and can't fix it. Could I come over to fix it. She answered the door with "Really Faye? Really? Girl this is going to change. You're 65 and this mess doesn't work for a 30 year old. At least wear sandals" She took this photo to show me how tragic I looked. She was right it was tragic. So I went to wearing socks with sandal for fall and long pants and tops that meet the jeans. The problem with booties is I like my mom tapered leg jeans and have the bottoms inside my booties. She says no, I must wear my straight leg jeans over the booties. I don't know if I can do that. I do feel I have made progress and soon will select my wardrobe with a more discriminating eye.
@Patsy Faye Nothing but my walking sandals have the best arch support for my very high arched narrow feet. Even with special insoles, I can't find shoes or boots that are as comfortable. I never wear socks with sandals until cool, weather.
Thanks for the compliment Faye, we're both around the same age (I'm 64) Jeans over ankle boots it's the right way for me at least, and leggings or skinny jeans tucked into knee highs.... dunno if you can see very well in this photo...
You look great! I like my mom tapered leg jeans over best. My straight leg sort of covers the booties up. I never wear legging or jeggings anymore. I quit a couple years ago. I don't even wear shorts anymore. Mom jeans or mid waist straight leg in jeans and for dress Dockers with smooth front. I hate those pleated front ones. Anyway, I have repented and no more socks with sandals in public for fall. Soon to be 69, so time to get that stylin senior look. Maybe the wider bottom jeans would look better with my booties since I have a very narrow and long foot.
@Holly Saunders You look great with bootleg or straight leg jeans over and would fit in here perfectly, but I do think the leggings and high boots look best on you!
Really girl, unless the photo isn't showing everything in the room, at 65 you ought to know better than to stand on a commode to reach the ceiling. Increased fall risk. BTW nice legs.
I think they look absolutely fine as they are Faye, but if you feel you're feet are too long ( I don't) then a slight boot leg would make them look smaller.....
I"m tall Jerry so it was an easy reach and near two walls so was well supported. Hard to get a step ladder close enough.
True, but our ladies on SoC aren’t subject to the normal rules of senior cautions. She probably did a pirouette before dismounting the doniker then followed it up with a full pike with a twist before touching down lightly on the floor. We do indeed have some incredible ladies and yes....good looking one’s too.
@Holly Saunders One last desperate attempt before retiring my sandals. Bootleg dark jeans help, but not enough.
Thanks for confidence Bobby, but best I could do is a wobbly crane or "nidan geri" and just the pose, no kick.
Nope sorry faye..not if you don't want to look like an old man..! I hope you don't feel insulted. It's better with the black trousers I have to admit but still, black socks and brown sandals...it's really not the best look!!
