I noticed that in my computer address bar, it says in RED when posting - Not secure seniorsonly.club - This is the only site I visit that shows such. For a short time this morning it showed a lock symbol meaning secure. Can someone explain what is going on? I understand this to be something about a http site instead of https. Why would it change briefly? UPDATE: It is staying locked at all times now.
Anti virus has nothing to do with whether a website is secure or not. I haven't had any problem with this site either and it stays locked now as a secure webpage. I am not computer and internet smart enough to explain other than if you see a website unlocked in your bar that has their web address, then any personal private info you have on that site is easier to hack than a locked one.
That's got nothing to do with any of that. That is simply because I am not paying for an SS certificate for an https:// connection opposed to an http:// connection. I am not taking credit cards or storing personal records here, so there's no point to it. Shopping sites have that, and some other sites have done it simply get away from that browser nag. This is not a shopping site. Besides, despite their SS certificates, shopping sites get hacked all the time.
Thanks Ken. That was what I understood, but what has me baffled is it changed this morning and now shows as a locked site. Must be Google Chrome because it still shows unlocked on Internet Explorer.
@Faye Fox I use google chrome and get the same 'Not secure' notice. I also get a 'blocked flash plug in' notice. Chrome is somewhat temperamental when it comes to security they can't control. I ignore it. I trust Ken that he isn't selling any of our information to the Chinese. (Not that they would probably even want it.)
@Bess Barber I am sure the Chinese and Russians already have all my info so no worries, but still baffles me why this changed. The link for this site on my Google Chrome browser is now https://www.seniorsonly.club and just changed this morning. I still get the blocked flash plug thing. Don't know or care about that.
