This is what one source says, there are probably other opinions. https://www.summertomato.com/top-10-most-overrated-health-foods I post this as some believe the banana is so great for potassium value, it gives us some but hardly near the RDA for the day. Med banana about 400mg. The soy issue was a huge sore spot in my life when soymilk first hit the U.,S. and I was drinking it and I was so fatigued, it inhibits our thyroid and my chiro found this issue with his testing when I was dragging myself into this office yrs ago. I avoid it with all my passion. And margarine doesn't even hit my radar, butter only in my life. And I go in spurts with yogurts, and so much of the fruity yogurts are loaded with sugars. I have been off yogurts lately. I like goatmilk plain yogurt and go that route often and add some fresh fruit if I have some. Protein bars are quick fixes with a lot of sugars too. I've gone in spurts there and like the Kind bars but know they are not the best foods. On the low and non fat issue I never bought into those, the real thing or nothing. All the designer foods that have been developed only have a lot of chemical additives.
Another excellent source for the "opinion." I never knew anyone who considered margarine, fake meat, or a protein bar as healthy food; what a revelation. And no one has claimed that a single banana would provide the RDA of potassium in any post; bananas are one source of potassium along with many other foods. Eat a healthy balanced diet and you won't need so many supplements.
My supplements fill in where my foods are NOT doing a good job. I don't spend hours in the kitchen and I can't run to stores for all the great foods and prepare them as I did for most of my life, so this is what works for me. Many believe a banana is their potassium fix and have no clue what the RDA is. I choose the supplement route for ME. Instead of drugs for allergy issues, my GrapeSEED does a great job. And MANY have no clue on the pitfalls of Soy, I didn't many yrs ago. Thanks.
I've learnt a lot about supplements because I always check them out before I buy. Such as RDA. ingredients and side effects. Even so, they may not agree with me, then I stop using them
I've been taking supplements over 25 yrs and the only one that did NOT agree with me was St. Johns Wort, it raised blood pressure, so I got off it pronto. Other supplements didn't HELP me but I gave them at least a 3 month trial. Grape Seed Extract and or Pycnogenol has worked for me for going on 25 yrs.
I started taking the grape seed on your recommendation about 7 weeks ago, all fine What do you take the Pycogenol for ?
I took Pycnogenol for 1 yr when it came into the U.S. from France in 1995 and that's when a life of allergies/sinus issues went away...then after the year I found Grape Seed Ex and since it's less $$ and I'm believing just as effective, I take the Grape Seed Ex now over 24 yrs. I still buy some Pycnogenol from time to time as I make my own moisturizer cream and it has Pyc in it...I have hardly any wrinkles at 81. Grape Seed Ex doesn't work well for the cream as it's grainier and not as powdery as Pyc.
I sure would like to see a picture of you, Joy. It must be marvelous to be 81 and have very few wrinkles. How about a closeup picture?
I have no clue about doing photos etc and do NOT use a smartphone. Wish I could post a photo, but can't post anything in the avatar area or anywhere. No wrinkles but no tech savey either. ONly way I can send a photo is via email and I don't have any photos now. When I get one from my daughter via her phone I'll ask you if you want to see it via email. j
