I don't know if they're as popular in the UK as in the US, but afternoon television court shows are abundant here, with presiding judges ranging from the acerbic Judge Judy to more kindly, worldly philosopher types such as Judge Caprio ("Caught in Providence").

Do you ever watch any court shows, and if so who are you a fan of?

    No, not much anyway.
I definitely remember the first major star of TV court, Judge Wapner, and yes, I watched a lot of his cases but my interest soon died out.

I will have to admit a "guilty pleasure" in the occasionally Judge Judy episode.

No, I don't watch them. I have seen Judge Judy a few times and wonder what the hell some people are thinking. Honestly I don't get the appeal, but I don't like any reality TV.

I liked the Judge Judy court show at first, but the stories eventually became sort of predictable.

I used to watch the Court TV cable channel which aired entire court proceedings, some live - some not. They did revive the channel. I have it on my laptop, but haven't watched any yet. Some cases can be quite interesting. Like @Bobby Cole , I watched a few of the court shows early on, but after awhile, they all started sounding the same and I lost interest. Now, I don't even subscribe to cable network TV at all, only streaming channels.

Exactly the same here.. watched them until they became predictable and I just got tired of them...Judy.. .Judge Joe Brown... Judge Rinder.. (British) ..Judge Jeanine ..and so on.. however when we get it , and it's not often I do quite like to catch an episode of the People's Court...

Perry Mason is always good, even though his repeats date back to the Truman Administration.

JAG has some great Courts-Martial trials.

Judith Scheindlin knew how to handle those who did not show proper courtroom decorum.

I enjoy watching them more for the laughs I get out of some of them rather than the actual cases. The way the judges talk to them sometimes makes them interesting to me. I enjoy Judge Mathis, Judge Judy and People's Court. But, there's no way I would go before Judge Judy in court!
