This gets odder. https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/10122513/us-diplomat-wife-anne-sacoolas-harry-dunn-no-immunity/
I can understand how an American would end up driving on the other side of the road in the UK. She should've paid better attention. I don't think an accident makes someone an evil person, but we are all obligated to pay for our mistakes. This was a big one and the outcome is tragic no matter what. If someone accidentally killed my child, I wouldn't find it a personal victory or joy in making a villain out of the person who did it. I'm sure she feels more than terrible anyway.
I agree it was probably an accident, but her cowardice in returning home to the USA instead of remaining there to face the music says volumes about her lack of integrity. And no matter how terrible she feels, that was the wrong thing to do. I know she doesn't feel nearly as terrible as the dead boy's family.
As a species, I think diplomats and their families aren't particularly concerned about anyone other than themselves.
The parents have been very good and respectful to her, thus far - have things changed in their attitude now ?
The second article @Tom Galty posted seems to reflect that, but it wasn't my specific reference. I see it a lot when things like this happen, especially in vehicular homicides. I actually feel sorry for both sides here. I can't imagine going through life knowing my lack of judgement killed ANY person, much less a child. I'm not sure I could live with the guilt.
Absolutely agree and seeing the parents speak a couple of different times, they were very understanding of that Can only think the change has come about because she did 'not' have diplomatic immunity and she would have known that. If only she had met with the parents earlier, a lot more upset could have been avoided.
Seems that the parents of this young boy has been told by Trump her killer will not have to face justice in then UK Be interesting to see what happens when you know WHO is released from am English Jail for jumping bail
Now I'm really confused, just saw the couple on TV and I just don't get it Thought they wanted a 'meet' with her, I've given up and wish them well on their journey but I've lost me way
I agree, Patsy. I just watched a video of the mother, and I don't understand exactly what she wants to happen. I have to say, I'd be spending my time grieving and not so much hogging the spotlight. Even "speaking to the killer" isn't going to heal any wounds. From the Yahoo article... "The parents of a British teenager allegedly killed in a motorcycle accident by the American wife of a U.S. official are accusing the White House of trying to ambush them with a forced meeting with the woman in the Oval Office on Tuesday." So... if they want to meet with the woman, why is this an "ambush???" I guess I'm missing something.
