Guess that is why you have the constant 'Deep Thinker' avatar while the rest of us fritter with images of self expression.
Well, now you have clarified yourself. From the first post, I thought perhaps you ate from both sides of the salad bar.
So I am hearing if you change your avatar frequently, you are just wanting attention. Seems a bit judgmental to me.
Pretty sure that is not what it meant all all, @Faye Fox . A lot of us change our avatars on a whim, or for some Holiday or seasonal reason. If you re-read Beth’s post, it was addressed to someone in particular. Feel free to change your avatar as often as it pleases you to do so.
The discussion was changing avatars, Hal pays her a compliment, she acknowledges that his compliment was as good as it gets, then the meme that clearly states, "Some people might as well post, "Wants Attention" as their status." I have no idea who "some people" are and anyone that gets on a public worldwide readable forum and post regularly, that says they don't want attention is in denial. I don't think a senior wanting attention is a bad thing unless they become constantly needy unnecessarily. I know many are young seniors in their 50's, maybe even some in their 40's on here that don't yet understand that some of us older ones do enjoy more attention as we have had to let go of things that use to keep us busy and the internet gives us a social experience to connect with others and this forum is the only seniors ones that isn't ruled with an iron fist or isn't a dating site. When I was 55 I wouldn't have thought of taking time to show an 80 year old a little extra attention, especially a guy. Last time I attended a seniors cancer group, I was humbled by how many were in semi assisted living, much like Lon. Even with all the activities they have at some of those places, someone different showing them attention can make their day. Just sitting down listening to their stories and calling them dear or honey can brighten their day and mine too. No senior 65 and older should be shamed for wanting a little extra attention.
Oh blah, blah, blah. Why so defensive? I guess if the shoe fits, wear it... though I was only joking with Hal about hiding behind a monitor. I don't put my face or my business out on the internet anymore than necessary; just a personal choice.
I knew you would say I was just joking because that is typical liberal response! If you were joking with Hal about your hiding behind a screen, then you would have said "I" instead of "some people." People who make masked generic statements, intended to take a jab at others, then when they are called on it, say I was just joking, is a typical liberal response.
Liberal?..sorry is that a reference to politics Faye?..I'm sorry but I'm not having a jab at you if it is, just wondered why politics would be brought into it ( if it is ).. Incidentally as far as we know there are no 40 somethings on this forum.. Incidentally I change my avi quite often too.. not trying to gain attention, just get fed up looking at myself sometimes..
