I noticed he hasn't been posting lately. Maybe @Yvonne Smith has access to his email. She is good at checking up on members since folks our age can have an unexpected illness or other issue. It's nice for them to know they are missed.
That's a real concern because he wasn't too well was he, and then they had a couple of earthquakes too which caused quite a bit of interior damage to his home, but which they got sorted... I hope he's ok, but not even looking in to the forum when he was a very regular contributor is a worry!!
I have been worrying about @Don Alaska , too; but I think that he might have gone on an extended trip visiting with his and his wife’s family. It seems like he mentioned something about a trip, but being back home by Christmas . I will try to look back though his posts and see what “clues” I can find. Don’t you know him from that other forum (homesteading ?) , @Ken Anderson ? Maybe there is some information about what happened to Don on that forum . I think that it is time you added another Forum Rule, Ken ! All members are REQUIRED to own an iPad or Kindle and check in reasonably often when they are absent because of travel, or any other reason.
Or some sort of buddy system so a person can at least let one forum member know they are okay or ill or whatever was keeping them away. Also, letting a family member or friend know if something goes terribly wrong, they can come to the site and let someone know. It sounds silly, but we ARE at a vulnerable age where anything could happen.

It looks like Don refers to their upcoming trip “south “ early in August, and was last online here a few weeks after that. Earlier, he also referred to an upcoming trip, too, so I think that he might just be traveling still. But, with winter setting in, they should be back home soon. Here is from an earlier post : We will be arranging our first trip south for this year soon. Son #3 and his newly-pregnant wife are coming to visit and see their new nephew, then we will follow them down to Seattle to visit with the oldest grandchildren. We have to visit them on their terms these days, as they are teenagers and have a very packed schedule of activities.
If we are going to be talking about @Don Alaska's possible demise, we probably shouldn't do it in the Happy Talk forum. He might wonder about that when he returns.

Thanks @Bobby Cole ....I’ve had a tough summer and still working through all my issues. I’m better though but losing Pickles was the toughest and still is. I have been reading more on here though...lots of new faces! Besides Don...has anybody heard from Tim Burr?
