The problem is not what gender you are...
It is the changing of your gender that causes confusion:rolleyes:

From my understanding, the psycho-analytics are recognizing a type of social gender as opposed to a biological gender.
It’s like observing the participants of a masquerade ball.during the Halloween season. We know that x is a male and y is a female but x is dressed as Shirley Temple and Y is dressed like a pirate.
The unfortunate thing is that the Halloween season never ends and the participants of the ball insist that the portrayed facade is in fact a reality.

Science only recognizes two genders but psychologically (a soft science) there are more than two which is where the rub starts.

That was a nice thoughtful post.
I don't know any transexuals personally, so I'm in no position to judge or assume I understand whatever they are going through. Obviously, SOMETHING went wrong, whether it be genetically or psychologically. I think a person should be able to assume the role of whatever they feel most comfortable being, but I don't think this adds additional genders. These new gender benders categories only confuse the issue and cause some people to take it too far which opens up the whole issue to ridicule. I don't understand the whole sex change operation either. I don't know what to feel about it.

Most of the whole thing is none of my business what gender someone wants to be. There are people who are treating their gender as a daily feature much the same as someone donning something from the closet to wear for the day: today it’s a sports jacket and the day before was coat and tie.
It’s purely a point of wherever the imagination takes someone, it’s where they go.

Now, the problem seems to be that there are those who not only have a great imagination but want others to endorse it as reality. If they just live in their own world and do whatever it is they want to do it would be just hunky-dory with me. But nope, some just gotta change my world too which doesn’t fly.
I can learn to like someone no matter what sex or gender they consider themselves because I personally do not care what the focus is on their personal genitalia.
I leave their world alone, they leave mine alone and we can just be humans together and we can learn to love and like each other because of the heart and nothing else.

This should be on a flag to be carried by people who don't want everyone else's crazy in their house. :p

Concert Pianist/Comedian Victor Borge once quipped: "In Denmark, there are 3 sexes: Male, Female, and Convertible.

(This is in relation to the first-ever sex-change operation, with Christine Jorgensen being the recipient in 1952)

Beth...how do I know where post #70, is? And also, it's not surprising that I forgot I posted this item, considering my Alzheimers condition is destroying my memory!

I'm not bullshotting... this is a worsening problem!

The post number is located in the bottom right corner of your post, next to the Quote button. Your last post is #113. Post 70 is here... CLICKETY! My memory isn't that great, but I try to skim over an older thread before I post, just to see if I've already posted.

I'm sure no one cares if a post is repeated, Hal... I just can't resist being a wise guy. :D

And to keep the thread on topic, there are still only TWO genders. :p

I think most people consider "sex" and "gender" as interchangeable terms, but with the current insanity, words have been appropriated to mean whatever the crazies want. Heaven knows we wouldn't want anyone to be offended.

    Merriam Webster says it best:

    Gender: Noun
    The words sex and gender
have a long and intertwined history. In the 15th century gender expanded from its use as a term for a grammatical subclass to join sex in referring to either of the two primary biological forms of a species, a meaning sex has had since the 14th century; phrases like "the male sex" and "the female gender" are both grounded in uses established for more than five centuries.

I would respectfully suggest that before anyone comments on this thread, go back and watch the video Ken posted introducing this discussion. This video is talking about the insane idea that a child is born one sex and then as a young child decides they are the other. The insanity is there are those that think that parents have the right to give their children dangerous life altering hormones, drugs, or surgery because the child thinks they are the other sex. No one is born homosexual or transgender. How does a child know they are homosexual before puberty? It is impossible!!! Now as far as sexual "gender" identity the only children that have physical and scientific reason for identifying with the opposite sex than their DNA at TIME OF CONCEPTION sex are those intersex (hermaphrodite) born with what appears to be genitals of the other sex. Note I said SEX! The parents of these children have a hard decision to make. If the child appears as a girl but is a boy by DNA and testes that will eventually need to be removed, should they raise the child as a girl? It is important to know that most intersex people do NOT have anything to do with the growing unscientific idea that chemicals in the brain cause "gender" identity issues that start as a young child. We all have the same chemicals in the brain and how they are unbalanced can cause all kind of health issues, but the idea that an special chemical or unchangeable balance is causing homosexuality from birth, is nonsense.

Again I suggest if you haven't watched the thread intro video, do so. The thread title of "How many Genders are there" is hard to answer because of al the definitions of gender. The origin of the word comes from words that mean "like" or "kind" and was never meant to replace the word sex. I hate that the once question what sex are you is replaced with what gender are you? On medical documents when they ask your sex, even the most successful and amazing "transgender" better answer their birth sex, because if not, they may jeopardize their health. I notice now on most medical questionnaires, they ask sex and gender. I have never once thought I was anything but female. I worked on jobs where all the other laborers were male and people would ask me, "why do you want to be a male." My answer was simple, I don't!!!! I love to do things that have in times past been mostly male jobs, but that never made me think for one instant, gee, I am feeling like a guy today or I can't wait to mutilate my breast and genitals. I was raised doing chores and hobbies of both sexes traditionally speaking. I enjoyed building radios over sewing quilts, but did enjoy both. The radio had an element of surprise and I could travel worldwide listening to my crude homemade shortwave. The quilts were an art and something to put on my bed and say, "I made this." My mother wanted me to play and sing gospel music on the piano and my father wanted me to play classical violin and sing opera. My piano attempts led my mother to ban me from doing more than polishing the instrument and my violin playing caused an invasion of rats as the skilled farm cats left for parts unknown quick and in a hurry. So I took up guitar and when I electrified was banned to an old small milk barn that became my first, SHE SHED! I had a she shed before she sheds were popular. It was best to displease both parents rather than just one.

My singing caused the shower pipes to corrode, vibrate, and leak and I was discouraged from singing other than silently moving my lips to music. This is when lip syncing was invented. Any adult can do the sex body mutilation thing and only thing I ask, is to stop trying to convince me you were born that way because of strange chemicals in the brain. Stop with all the Hollywood crap where nearly every show has a sexual message other than male and female. Only a very small portion of society identifies other than birth DNA, but Hollywood wants us to believe they are the majority. Soon these promoters will run out of letters in the alphabet. Even fewer are the intersex that are silenced by the LGTBQABCXYZLMNOQ since they are the only ones with real gender identity issues. They refuse to become part of this personal choice alphabet movement that is going to far by endangering children. Again watch the video Ken posted.

Oh, whatever. Everyone knows that "sex" and "gender" have been used interchangeably forever. And it really annoys me when people delete their posts, making responses to those posts seems incongruous.

So do I, and that's one of the reasons that I have put limitations on the amount of time that someone could edit a post, and why I have adjusted it up or down a few times.

Sorry about deleting the post. I didn't realize anyone had responded to it. I deleted it as I wanted to reword it this morning. Again sorry if it broke any continuity. I will say respectfully that NO, everyone doesn't know that sex and gender are used interchangeably. Gender wasn't used in any known text to mean DNA sex until 1963. The homosexual promoters used to word to try and confuse science. They used it to infer that homosexuals were born that way and it wasn't a choice. They want us to believe that their DNA at conception was one sex, but somehow when forming in the womb their brains became that of the other sex. This is what gender was meant to imply and the homosexual movements way of trying to make it a medical fact. The only medical fact is that ones physically born with other sex genitals or organs are called intersex and because of the way they have to live, they may find it best to live as the other sex. The homosexual advocates try to claim they are the SAME and also have THE SAME sex identity problem, but they DON'T and did medical science a great disservice with this gender nonsense. The homosexual advocates want everybody to believe that gender means birth sex, but it doesn't. Transgender was first used in 1965. I have nothing against anyone that wants to live as the opposite sex, but I don't like them trying to change science and change word definitions and force it on society as fact. Don't tell me a little girl playing with a truck or a little boy playing with dolls, has gender identity and has special needs and guidance from the homosexual advocates. .I played with trucks as much as dolls and loved them both. Sometimes my dolls rode in the back of my old metal dump truck. Luckily I had great parents that saw no harm in my behavior and placed no judgement or concern on my playing. But that was in the 50's before the 60's when "gender" became a thing. Being raised on a ranch, I learned early that roosters don't lay eggs, and nothing could be done to force them to lay eggs. Bulls don't have calves, etc. Cutting off a bulls testicles and sewing on an udder, won't make the bull a cow.
