I will be getting up 8 hours from now to drive to Vegas, to pick up my wife returning from Indiana. While she was gone certain new health issues have popped up, which I discussed lightly with her several times. These issues I am deeply concerned about, and without going into detail, save to say that in the event they interfere with my ability to raise hell here daily, you-all will be aware "something's in the wind". Excuse my being so cryptic, right now, I've said enough. Frank
@Frank Sanoica Well, when you say discussed "lightly" and it may interfere with your forum hell raising, it does sound concerning. New health issues can be overwhelming.
@Frank Sanoica Hoping that the possible health issue leans in your favour. Happy to hear your wife is on her way home. Drive safe.
To point to another thread, it’s gotta be the lack of female guidance Frank. Things will get better when your wife gets home guy. To be serious though, there’s a prayer in it for you.......
I'm sure you'll feel better once you've had a chance to discuss it all with your wife. One of the best parts of being married, is having a person to share your troubles with, who you know loves you and will be there for you. Hope you have a good trip!!
@Frank Sanoica ...prayers and hugs for you and wife. How all turns out well . Try and keep us posted.
@Gloria Mitchell @Bess Barber @Faye Fox OKAY, here's the scoop. 5 weeks ago, just about the time my wife was leaving for Indiana, as I walked from my car across the Smith's parking lot, halfway to the store I began puffing, out of breath, as though I had run a block or so. Had to slow up, in a few minutes, all was normal. I had had COPD-like symptoms 10 years ago, first time ever, and got 6 different diagnoses, ranging from "return of childhood asthma (ridiculous), to Emphysema, that coming from my regular practitioner; 6 months later check-up, he noted my breathing was clear. I asked him what happened to the Emphysema? He shrugged, could say nothing more. At any rate, I've breathed normally for 10 years now, and this new thing was different, felt different, not trouble getting air in and out like before, but rather breathless from extreme exertion. So, I took an inhale of the old "rescue" inhaler, Albuterol, and hit that damned parking lot again; same thing, breathless, this was not caused b y my lungs! It stayed the same for several weeks, while I noticed my belly seemed to be getting distended. Lots of research later, I decided I had Ascites; my abdominal cavity had filled with fluid. Made sense, as we breathe more deeply than usual, I reasoned, the diaphragm encroaches downward into the belly; if it hits a wall of liquid, that breath is stopped short. Ascites, usually follows liver failure. Great news. But no sign of the classical liver symptoms, yellowing of skin and eyes, very dark urine, yellowish stools, whole body itching, fatigue; I have none of that. Ascites symptoms: shortness of breath, distended belly, bloated feeling, pain in stomach, Got 'em. Day after my wife returned, we called my Dr. Saw him next day. He agreed with my thoughts, called for blood workup (an absolute necessity to implicate/disprove liver involvement), poked around my belly, prescribed a high-power diuretic, Furosemide. He sent me across the street to our hospital for a chest X-ray, which looked pretty clear, to me. The blood-letting is scheduled for tomorrow. He seemed confident this would resolve with time. I wish I shared that belief. Scared, wondering, sure. Never smoked a cigarette in my life. Acted to protect my lungs, which I think are OK. If, If, If, this or that, good or bad.........Not ready to think the clock is winding down. One by one....several months ago, my old buddy in Chicago, Russ, died of complications from Meningitis, having been on kidney dialysis for 3 years. I cannot imagine the agony. Frank
@Frank Sanoica ..wow Frank- scary I know I do think perhaps you have caught things early enough that the problems can be eradicated. Had never heard of this until now. Try not to over worry, right now you must concatenate on getting well. Keep us posted...we care
@Frank Sanoica I have a friend that had same symptoms. If it happens again go get oxygen level checked at an urgent clinic. My friend had one attack that almost killed her and she spent time in ER and intensive care before oxygen levels came up. 6 days in hospital and every test known and they still have no clue. She was given an inhaler that she uses any time it starts that stops it, but why it happens no one knows. It might be important to know what level oxygen drops to.
@Frank Sanoica Sorry about the health issues you are having to face, i'm hoping things turn out in you favor, stay positive.
