I would check out the job prospects in Wyoming before moving. I know it's easier said than done, but at least check it out on Craigslist or whatever online site you guys are most comfortable with. It's just HARD to get a job after a certain age.
After I picked her up, she told me the interview basically went "ok". One thing for sure, she doesn't like the setup for where she'd be working. She use to having her own cubicle, but their office is set up with no dividers and desks right next to each other. She had a short talk with a lady, whom she thought was around 55, who was there for an interview for AP. She was still 15 years younger than my wife. Anyway, my wife is finally understanding that this company is too far from our apartment, especially during winter weather AND that our vehicle has too many miles on it. My wife did send an e-mail "Thank You" message (for the interviews) to the lady from HR, that called her for the interviews she had yesterday. She was going to end the e-mail with, "Hope to hear from you soon", but I told her to end it "Thanks again for the interviews". I told my wife....you don't want this lady to think you really want this job, do you? She agreed. The lady has sent her an e-mail back asking what she liked best about her interviews. My wife won't answer her message. If the lady calls, and offers the job, my wife will tell her "sorry, but the company is just too far away." Wife is currently on her laptop, doing her job searching again.
Wife had an interview with a Temp Agency Rep this morning, but with the 4 inches of snow and 13 degrees, it's been cancelled. The company the Rep is hiring for, wants the Rep to meet with my wife before sending her to the company for an interview. Don't ask me! The Rep is driving from west of Denver to here...…..around 60 miles, one way. This was for coffee, but my wife likes having breakfast. This interview was set up last Friday. What this Rep don't know is that, when this "coffee/breakfast" interview does happen, I will be with my wife. She wants me to go with her and, of course, I said "sure". I'll just tell this Rep that I'm my wife's husband and Bodyguard (LOL).
Cody. Wife had an interview with a Temp Agency Rep this morning, but with the 4 inches of snow and 13 degrees, it's been cancelled. Who cancelled, the Temp Agency Rep, or your wife? The company the Rep is hiring for, wants the Rep to meet with my wife before sending her to the company for an interview. Yes, the company is paying the Agency to do the first interview. This was for coffee, but my wife likes having breakfast. What does that mean? Does it mean Wife will order breakfast for herself, or both? Was the breakfast discussed? Does your wife expect the rep to pay for her breakfast? If breakfast wasn't decided on, does your wife intend to conduct herself at this interview by answering questions between chewing and swallowing? Or does your wife intend to arrive early enough to eat her breakfast in private? I may be too old fashioned, but imo, YOU don't belong there! Can't you see how inappropriate it is for you to tag along and horn in? Maybe your wife wants you to drive her but whatever you do, enter separately, sit far away and don't butt in. If you do, unless this job is garbage, she can kiss it goodbye.
My wife called the Rep this AM on the Rep's cell and told her what the weather was like here. She done this BEFORE the meeting was suppose to happen. The Rep told her "fine, will check my schedule to reschedule you" in an e-mail. Another e-mal from this Rep asked about tomorrow AM at 8AM. My wife was somewhat shocked at the new time of 8AM, but ended up going "ok". Today's was set to be at 10AM. My wife doesn't just sit and drink coffee, of which she likes hot chocolate instead. She likes breakfast. If she does have breakfast, she will pay for her own. Anyway, this is the first time my wife has ever had an interview in a restaurant. She sure doesn't consider this any kind of formal interview! But, then again, the Rep's office is some 60 miles south/southwest from us and we sure don't want to drive that far. So, if the Rep wants to meet her at a restaurant here, fine. Wife and I have discussed it and I WON'T be staying at the restaurant. Will drop her off and go to Walmart, then home if they aren't done yet. But, would like to meet this Rep, if possible. I would really like to see the expression on this Rep's face when I tell her "I'm my wife's husband and bodyguard". If the Rep has any "sense of humor" she will laugh, wife and I did when I told her what I'd say.
I'm glad to know you WON'T be at the restaurant at least. You're wise to assume the rep has no sense of humor. Temp agencies often use casual restaurants for interviews, especially when their offices are far. I know this from experience. Eating in front of someone, especially .while conducting business, unless prearranged is rude, unprofessional and not business-like. But, maybe I'm too old school. I wish her luck, anyway.
First, it's 12 degrees outside. Pretty cold to go for an interview, but. Anyway, just looked at a picture of the Rep in Linkedin and she is very young. IOW, she is young enough to be my wife's granddaughter! My wife does prefer to have interviews with older ladies. Not only is this Rep young, but, and don't know if she knows this, she will be meeting my wife at a "Seniors" type of restaurant. This restaurant is a lot like Cracker Barrel, when it comes to décor. Everything on the walls, only early Baby Boomers, like wife and I, or earlier Seniors would know.
Can't you both just relax and let things take its course ? Took my daughter 3 months and she much younger. If you were having financial problems then I could understand the panic.
Well, she has submitted over 90 resumes with only one actual in-person interview. Unfortunately, her Bachelors Degree is 22 years old. She has lots of experience in the Accounting/Finance area, but perhaps too much.
I understand..my daughter had out that many. I believe everything happens for a reason- so at the right time something will show up. Another thing..it takes them forever to make up their minds who they want...trust me that is even more frustrating.
Her interview, at that restaurant yesterday AM, went well, but the company this Temp Agency Rep is working with, my wife has already applied to a number of times before...…...with not a single call back. The Rep did forward my wife's resume to the company and now someone from the company wants to speak to her on the phone. Don't know if the company wants to let my wife know that they have already received a number of online resumes from my wife and will politely say "sorry, just not interested" or "we liked to schedule an interview with you in our office". We will just have to wait and see what happens with the phone conversation.
Wife got a call for an in-person interview for a company about 8 miles east of us. It's the same company she has sent several resume's to and a Temp Service is handling this hiring position. The young lady she met with at the restaurant last week. It is a temp/90-day job, that could become full-time. It's a rather large company and the opening is in AP, not the position she originally applied for, but she would take AP. I really hope she gets this, but, as the old saying goes...……"don't count your chickens before they are hatched!" There is a young gentleman getting interviewed for the same position...…."young" meaning "yikes" for us.
Well, wife got two e-mails. One from the Temp Agency young lady telling her that the company my wife had the interview with a couple of weeks ago, and seemed pretty promising for a temp job, decided to go with the young gentleman who also applied. Other e-mail was from a company less than two miles from our apartment, telling her they will not be interviewing her. So, she continues to look, hoping she can get an extension on her UI.
