Happy Thanksgiving everybody! I hope you all have a blessed day! I am truly thankful that I can be a part of this forum!
Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! The turkey is cooking, I can tell, but I'm afraid to delve too deeply into it for fear of being enlisted in the preparation.
@Ken Anderson , that is seriously funny , and I can just see that thought spinning around in your brain, along with smelling the turkey roasting and wondering if it is done enough yet to sneak a nibble or two. Yesterday , we went to Walmart and my Sweetie Pie bought me one of the electric turkey roasters, and that made the preparations much simpler. I made the potato salad yesterday, and then got the stuffing all made and the turkey ready to cook before we went to bed. This morning, all I had to do was turn on the turkey roaster, and then the extra stuffing that I was cooking in the Ninja. We just had a simple meal, and Robin came over to enjoy the dinner with us; so it was a wonderful day, and lots of leftovers for turkey soup later. Now, it is time for a nap and relax. Hoping that everyone else has a wonderful Thanksgiving, too ! !
US THANKSGIVING is approaching.....What are your favorite foods....What are your favorite things to do.....Is " Black Friday " a part of your holiday.
We have the traditional TG foods, Micki...turkey, dressing, etc. Extended family meet at my MIL's house and everyone brings a dish (or two.) Big crowd with kids screaming, babies crying, grownups gossiping, etc. I have never cared about the black Friday sales but my sister-in-law and nieces are "those crazies" that get to the stores before they open. I'm more of a Cyber Monday gal.
Except for my daughter, Robin, we really don’t have any family even remotely close to us (hence the reason I was so happy to take the trip out to Washington to visit last week), so for Bobby and I , holidays are mostly the same as every other day. I love roasted turkey, and cranberries, and leftover turkey, and just all of the stuff that goes with a Thanksgiving Dinner, so we usually cook a turkey, even though it is just the two of us, and Robin , if she is working in town that week. I am checking turkey prices in the stores, but we do not have any room in the freezer to store a turkey, so we will probably not buy one until closer to the holiday. That being said, I am already enjoying nibbles of my first can of cranberries, and have another one waiting, should this can not make it all the way to Thanksgiving. Eggnog is also a possibility......
I love cranberry sauce, @Yvonne Smith . My favorite is homemade, using a bag of those fresh cranberries... so tart and fabulous.
