Shootings this weekend left four dead. Murders, stabbings, assaults, rapes, hit & runs, child abuse. 2019 has seen a on going daily occurrence of some kind of violent crime. Some of it due to Asian or Latino Gangs, but not all. If I were 35 years old with a family I would move to another state post/haste.
''You're not Bragging''...I should hope not indeed !! Bit of a concern for women who live alone there, like CC...
I moved to Fresno with wife, daughter, mil, in my early 30's and it was a quiet, stable town in the heart of a huge agricultural area, good schools, university, great place to work and raise a family. Chrissy & I are relatively immune to the current violence due to where we are living in Fresno. My family members living in Fresno all live in good neighborhoods, but still.
What is the crime rate in Fresno California? Fresno, CA crime analytics. With a crime rate of 45 per one thousand residents, Fresno has one of the highest crime rates in America compared to all communities of all sizes - from the smallest towns to the very largest cities. One's chance of becoming a victim of either violent or property crime here is one in 22.
I can understand that..it's happening sans guns in other western parts of the world with open borders... but why do you think this has been happening more so recently in your particular area, any real ideas? When you say you live in an area of Fresno largely unaffected by crime..how large is it exactly(Fresno I mean) ?..criminals do travel to more salubrious areas too.. in fact there's richer pickings to be had!!
In addition to that, it is also massively expensive. Other than Hawaii, it has the second highest cost of living rate. I'm not a liberal do-gooder, but when there are millions of people in a state who can't afford to even rent a crappy place to live, people become disgruntled and feel hopeless. Even though there are plenty of people in California with millions, there are still the people who park the cars, clean the houses and flip the burgers. Educated or not, they are still people who deserve to see the light at the end of the tunnel. When there is no hope of this, drugs and violence in a gang related atmosphere draws the masses. I'm not making excuses for them, but the the inequality rate between the have and the have-nots has to be addressed. If not, then you get mini scenarios of the Russian and French revolution. Even in the UK, the peasants revolted. High and low class incomes have historically been balanced by the obtainable middle. In California, the middle is fleeting. New York and parts of Florida may be close behind.
I can understand that in a Massive state, ... don't condone it but understand it, but what I'm trying to understand is why the crime rate according to Lon has suddenly sky-rocketed in an otherwise affluent area like Fresno...
@Lon Tanner Given the criminals are armed, most illegally, (what are the "gun laws" accomplishing?), I would not live there unarmed. Frank
Fresno's population is estimated at 512,000, up from 467,600 in 2010. The greater Metropolitan Fresno area has a population estimated at 1.1million.
You would be safer moving to a state where Concealed Firearm carrying is legal, like Alaska, Arizona, Kansas, Maine, Vermont, and Wyoming. When everyone assumes that everyone else is packing, there would be no shooting. Hal
Hardly. It was on the news again this morning about more shootings. California has turned into such a mess. Glad I don't live there anymore.
