Really LON! I didn't know you like flamenco. Did you ever go to his concerts or those by Sabicas? I saw both of them in concert.
This afternoon I have been watching street buskers, some of the most talented guitarists to be found there and I especially like Flamenco
Yes --I have seen him in concert. His Malaguena inspired me to learn to play it on my Chromatic Harmonica.
@Lon Tanner Awesome Lon! Do you still play harmonica? My style playing Malaguena is simple compared to Sabicas.
Absolutely ! No, not in Spain but I am when I watch You Tube videos of buskers in the Spanish streets
I like instrumental guitar, but more of the western type music , or just a good song played with a guitar. One of my favorite guitarists has always been Duane Eddy. I enjoyed all of his Rebel Rouser type songs, but when i bought the album “Twangy Guitar, Silky Strings”, I really enjoyed some of the slower instrumentals that Duane Eddy did on that album. Unchained Melody (which became the theme song for two movies) has always been a favorite, and I always loved listening to this instrumental version, too.
I had to give up playing due to my hearing. I sure miss it. It was great company and enjoyment. I visited Spain in 1989 and again in 2012
@Lon Tanner Sorry to hear that! I couldn't blow a harmonica either with my ears and chance of opening an old inner ear fistula. Sometimes it is painful to even play if hyperacusis sets in, but I won't give it up till my hands give out. I had to give up making musical instruments and my wood studio arts due to my hands and arms, but I can still play but not very good. I put this video together just for you. It is from a recent audio clip I did for fun. Hope you like it Lon and hope it makes your day better and brings good memories.
Does this count as instrumental? Les Paul... Sleepwalk... Electric guitar (I believe on the occasion of his 90th birthday, Iridium Club, NYC, 2005) I may have posted this here before, but the video keeps getting deleted from YouTube.
@Nancy Hart Yes, it is instrumental. Les Paul was great! It was amazing the auction of his instruments after his death. I participated online, but couldn't afford anything. One of my regrets is selling my 1952 Les Paul by Gibson. Sleepwalk is one of my favorites also.
I love these girls! They remind me of a surf band I played for and we got to play for a beach battle of the surf bands. We didn't win, but sure had fun and met some amazing guitarist. Yes, I wore the miniskirt and knee high white go go boots as did our other girl, the bass player. Glad to see these young ladies keeping the surf instrumental guitar alive.
