I have a Fire 7” and a Fire 8”, and I can do the same as you with enlarging the pictures, but I still prefer using my 10.5 iPad when I am reading something where i do want to enlarge something enough to see fine details.
Also, since I save pictures on the iPad, if there is a picture of chart of some kind that is part of the book, and I want to save that picture, I take a screenshot from the iPad and then have the picture saved to my photo stream. I don’t save anything like that in the Fire tablet, so even though I could take a screenshot that way, it wouldn’t be helpful to me.
Sometimes, I just want to save a page in a book that is not a picture, but says something I might want to share with my family, or here on the forum. With the iPad, I can take a screenshot of that page and then share that with people.

Kindle...what's a Kindle? I refuse to look it up, because I read from paper pages in books, magazines, and newspapers.

I've read about half of John Grisham's books. Grey Mountain was one of my favorites.
Lately I've been reading western romance books.

I am reading a book right at this very moment about a woman stalker and it is an eye opener. It has nothing to do with social media, but it is personal and terrifying. You never know. I only thought guys did that. Sorry men, no offense intended.

Oh indeed, I'd quite forgotten that one. She was a real winner, that one.

Thanks, Lois. I just looked it up on Amazon and found that it's only $1.99 for the Kindle version. I was set to purchase but apparently I already bought it on December 19, 2013. :D I guess I need to check out the contents of my Kindle. o_O I like Liane Moriarty.

I'm glad that Amazon keeps tabs on my electronic purchases. I read tons of books and usually don't remember the titles, so with their help I don't keep buying the same stuff.

I like the author myself, but I cannot stand this book. There isn't one character in it I like at all, but am compelled to continue to the finish line, simply to see what happens. The reviews are absolutely wonderful, so I am wondering what's wrong with me?

Am reading a book I got for Christmas: "In the Heart of the Sea", a true story that happened 200 years ago in 1820, where a Whaling Ship out of Nantucket, the "Essex", was rammed and sank in the South Pacific by a giant Sperm Whale nearly as large as the Essex.

The ordeal of the 20 survivors in 3 whaleboats is harrowing, where starvation finally caused the crew to resort to cannibalism to survive, after the deaths from starvation of some of the crewmen.

This is the story that inspired writer Herman Melville to write the whaling tale "Moby Dick", with Gregory Peck playing Captain Ahab in the film version of the story.

A film of "In the Heart of the Sea" was produced in 2015, directed by Ron Howard...have any of you seen it?
