I haven't been here long but I see we have some Brits here. What are your thoughts on your election? From my vantage point here in the U.S., and I could be wrong, it seems to be centered around BREXIT. I don't see why we nosy yanks can't voice an opinion too. Myself, I don't think that the onetime ruler of the world essentially, can't chart it's own course. Why turn over sovereignty to the E.U.? Am I seeing this right?
I'm sitting here at almost 1am watching the results coming in from all around the country, and yes it looks like our prime minister ( Conservative) not only remains but has gained a large majority of seats... but all the results won't be in for several hours yet . Please remember the Conservative party here doesn't mean the same as Conservative in US politics
I think you don't mean the actual Socialist party who are not in the running at all during this Election , but you are referring to the opposition party ''Labour'' whose leader is the repulsive Terrorist supporting Corbyn !!
Yes he is a socialist but not a member of the ''Socialist party''... I think perhaps the American media will describe him as Socialist in the way the American people would understand socialism..only guessing... He himself describes himself as a Democrat Socialist .. the vast Majority of this country describe him in 2 words I might be banned for writing on the forum
I woke to find that Boris has a majority to 'Get Brexit Done' ! Labour (democrats - that's a joke, not democratic at all) are at last, silenced For today at least, I can do the dance of joy, well this fella can do it for me YAY
@Holly Saunders Thanks for the explanation. I think there is a good chance most Americans have no idea what the political labels or terminology actually means in the UK. Therefore, we can jump to conclusions. Not all of us are as politically savvy as @Lois Winters !
Bernie Sanders describes himself as a Socialist Democrat. That really is an oxymoron for there is nothing democratic about a socialist at all.
Absolutely correct..I'm not very political but even I know that much... You\re welcome @Bess Barber , equally we're in the dark generally about how the USA system works.. and with this impeachment, I have no idea why the president is being impeached, tbh ( we don't have impeachment here )... aside from telling lies about something..
Actually, Holly, the impeachers have no idea why they are impeaching the President either, other than they hate him. He's his own man as I've previously stated and not a player. D.C. hates that since they are so corrupt and terrified he will call them all out which he's been doing. So, they are using very flimsy and ridiculous "crimes" he's allegedly committed to try and get rid of him. We the people elected him and are taking umbrage at the fact that a few idiots want to remove him.
wow, so I wasn't wrong, when I thought he'd done nothing wrong worthy of impeachment, but I didn't write it here for fear of looking foolish, knowing so little about how US politics work .. wow!! Incredible..
It's such a shame that those "few idiots" are the very ones that are doing the very things they accuse our President of doing!
