When we were taking our initial battery of tests after indoctrination into the US Army at Fort Ord, California in October, 1960, I received a score in one of the tests that qualified me to go to OCS, but I turned it down, as it would have required a much longer enlistment. @Hal Pollner Ever hear of Cicero, Illinois? Al Capone lived in an apartment there on 16th. St. and 57th. Court. He owned and operated a "back-room" on Cicero Avenue, just a block south of Cermak Road, west side of street. Across the street sprawled the giant Western Electric Plant, which manufactured all types of equipment for the Bell System. Tower is the give-away. It was visible from our home!
