After over 3 months of owning my W10 Computer, it surprised me today with a strange sound...it was a concealed Disc Drive emerging from the right side of the Computer! I can't find anywhere how to address the drive for playing or recording data...my W10 for Dummies and W10 for Seniors say nothing about this Phantom Drive! Hal
@Hal Pollner Just click and watch this tutorial when you have 17 minutes. It will answer many of your questions. My dad just got a new Windows 10 computer and he said this helped him a great deal. However, when you put in the disc, whatever is on it should just pop up on your screen.
Thanks, @Bess Barber, but I went through all 17 minutes and found nothing that would tell me how to move selected pictures from my large gallery and send them to be included in a Forum Post or Email Attachment. I guess I'll have to get a Geek Squad agent to come to my home and show me how to do it, for $50! Hal
I couldn't imagine that Windows 10 wouldn't support drag-and-drop, but I am seeing some complaints on a Microsoft support forum about drag-and-drop being disabled in Windows 10. Is that true? Why would they do that? Yet, this help page seems to indicate that Windows 10 supports drag-and-drop, and gives instructions. Drag and drop is the simplest way unless there's something weird about Win 10 that doesn't allow it. Otherwise, you could always click on the Upload a File button from our reply box, then click the Choose File box that pops up, click into the folder where your picture gallery is, and select the photo you want. As long as it's not larger than 1,000 pixel-width, it should upload just fine. As for your disk drive, have you tried putting a CD or DVD in there? A lot of computers don't come with disk drives anymore, I know. My MacBook doesn't.
To transfer an image to a Post or Email I'm writing, I have to get out of the Letter, then go to the Tiles and click on the Picture Tile, then click on the Picture in the gallery of hundreds, then click on SAVE AS on another page, then click on SAVE again on yet another page, then go back to the page I'm writing and click on Upload an image, then click on JPEG on another page, then see my selected picture on still another page, then click on Open and it appears at the bottom of the letter, then click on Thumb or Full size, then click on Save, and finally see my letter with the picture included! (...whew...) After nine clicks, I finally got to include a picture with my post or letter! Hal
And you wrote in another thread that tech was boring Hal. Why.....after nine clicks for one picture your finger is well exercised and your brain has Got to be smokin’!
Sometimes the like, quote and reply buttons become phantoms. They’re still there it’s just that we can’t see them. I either refresh the program or reboot and bingo....there they are all nice a vivid again. But maybe that’s not what Hal is asking about....dunno.
OK, I'm typing in the reply box, and I see the "upload a file" space. I'll click on it and try to upload a file. Here goes... It says to "choose a file", but the file I want is way over in my Picture Gallery, which means I have to quit the reply and go to the screen with all the Tiles, and click on the "Photos" tile, which takes me to my Picture Gallery, where I scroll and select a picture and click on it. Then when I go back to the reply box, there's no picture. Hal
