Yes...I prefer passive recreation to violent, strenuous hyperactivity. It's better for the continued functioning of the entire body. Throughout my 60's, 70's, and now into my 80's, I've gotten good annual reports of my physical condition without any gym workouts or running long distances. Hal
I have pondered and impondered, provised and improvised, considered and reconsidered, And I still don't know what to say about that picture. I suppose it's unspeakable.
I put in my pool 22 years ago. Cost us about $A8k from memory. It is a not a big one.. some 55k litres. and is salt water.
It won’t work @Craig Swanson!! I shall not be envious of that nice swimming pool nor your December summer time when you can swim in said, “I shall not be envious of that nice swimming pool”. It’s probably a Himalayan Sea Salt pool and therapeutically wonderful too and I won’t be envious of that either. After all, here in the states we can swim too albeit a tad cold to do so. It’s my understanding that the polar bear people who happen to like dodging chunks of ice in order to swim claim that it’s also a therapeutic type of thing. That is of course if their muscles don’t lock up and they drown in the process of getting healthy. All that said....yeah, I am just a little bit envious.
My son and DIL use salt in their pool filter. He says it's better that chlorine. I don't know if it makes the water salty or not. How much is $A8k in American dollars?
In today's money $1,000 Aussie is equal to $1.4,000 American. Salt water chlorination is cheaper and safer than normal chorination. Once you apply a bag of salt and circulate it for an hour or two there is not a distinct salt taste..unlike if you swallowed sea water.
C'mon Boomers I did not post these pics to big note myself.. after all my pool is small compared to next doors. Now his I'd like. It is almost palatial. I posted them as I wanted you all to also post yours. Ok Shirley does not have one..any others here have a pool?
That palm tree almost destroyed my pool last year when a violent nite storm tossed hundred of seeds into the water. I just happened to be having filter problems at the time and was unable to run it at full capacity so my pool cleaner was not working. Within days the water had turned a murky brown/green and there was a thick sludge on the bottom. It took me months to clear this sludge by hand and then cleaner. My pool has not looked the same since. It no longer has that glistening appearance as the pebblecrete has been irreversibly tarnished.
