You've mentioned you don't know WHY you are taking Grape Seed Ex, well I'll tell you what the MD's and research people said to an audience back in 1995 about the power of pycnogenol and Grapeseed Extract--- MAY PREVENT CANCERS....so if you are into cancer prevention, this is a huge reason. I'm doing very well on that issue. Plus I have a site that addresses about 60some health issues Grape Seed Extract can address in the positive...
I take Vitamin D, turmeric and fish oil. Because I can. I use apricot oil on my face to hopefully help prevent wrinkles.
When I saw my doctor 6 months ago she put me on prescription vitamin D before even testing to see if mine was low. Four months later it was tested OK and I was taken off. Last week's visit she again wanted to put me on them again without a test. I asked if it would make more sense to be tested first and she agreed. I don't buy gasoline before checking the gauge first. I think the drug companies are pressuring doctors to prescribe vitamins to make up for lost opioid revenue. Anyway, I bought some chew-able multivitamins which are much cheaper. Anyone else taking them or other supplements? Any improvements in your opinion?
Both Bobby and I take vitamins and other supplements. We have found that some doctors are pro-vitamins, and some are against taking them. We just changed doctors, and the new doctor approves of supplementing , but the doctor that we had before actually told us to stop wasting our money on buying vitamins and that they did more harm than good, in his opinion. I can see part of what he was saying, because a lot of the cheaper vitamins come from China nowadays, and they do not have the strict regulations in their factories, like we have here in the United States. However, we took our vitamins and supplements anyway, and just didn’t discuss the topic with our doctor ever again. We have a Medicare advantage plan, and one of the benefits is that we get an OTC allowance of $100 each per month; so we get our vitamins from Humana. Some are name-brand vitamins, and some are made-for-Humana , and since we use very little other types of OTC products, we have plenty of allowance to get all of the supplements that we want. Our Medicare plan has us do bloodwork every six months, and so far, we have never been told that we needed more vitamin D than we are taking, so the OTC supplements seem to be taking care of everything.
I don't take supplements. Last year I bought some "Mo Maggie" magnesium cream when I was having a charlie horse cramp in my foot. I used it a few times but really couldn't say whether it helped.
I don't take any vitamins or supplements. I eat fairly well balanced meals and live in Florida with plenty or sunshine. It's possible I would be better off taking a vitamin, but up to this point, I just haven't bothered to do so.
