If you HATE going to the doctor, then that can only mean that you HATE having the doctor discovering preventable problems that could shorten your life unless treated.

I don't spend much time at the doctor's, not my favorite place, just like most....my doctor and i have an understanding, i do the lab work and tests every 6 months as his request, in return, he renews my drugs. Good deal, i'd say.:rolleyes::rolleyes:.

My unexplained body swelling is still causing problems so looks like I well have to see primary doctor this week.
So swollen I wear only what I have to and loose clothing only. Still think a kidney doctor in order but hubby says see primary doctor first. Not happy with primary one but least its a start in some direction.
I just can't imagine what is wrong even though I am still searching for answers.
I can not function when I am puffed up like a toad frog. All of this makes me think of Frank Sanoica and his ordeal.
Hoping to find answers soon- even if it's bad news- least I will know.;)

Didn’t you say before that your heart doctor said you had a-fib, @Gloria Mitchell ? When my Afib and heart failure was so bad, I had a terrible time with my body bloating up, especially my legs and feet.
I lurched around like Frankenstein’s monster, because I couldn’t even bend my knees when I walked, and I had to have several pairs of shoes just to get through the day. I started out with my size 8.5 ladies shoes, and ended up by evening in a pair of men’s XXwide 10.5 moccasins, and I still had swollen ankles over the top.
Lasix (diuretic) helped, but it was a constant issue. I am wondering if there was something that they are missing with checking your heart. I do not have any blocked arteries either, and my heart (when it works) is strong, just malfunctioning.

Also, the heart medications cause kidney failure, so it is a vicious cycle. You need the heart medication for your heart, but then it destroys your kidneys.

Yes ..I have had a prolapse heart valve all my life. Your description matches mine except feet don't swell that bad..
But then I am not doing much either.
The Lasiks does help but just swell more the next day. I go from being fine mentally to crying simply because I am so tired of it all. Thanks to all for well wishes..
I am just ranting not looking for sympathy.
I just want to be a normal old person :)

I totally understand what you are saying, @Gloria Mitchell ! I have my up days and down days, too; but in the end, all we can do is be thankful that we are able to enjoy as much of life as we can, and that we are still here to enjoy it.
One of the things that I stumbled upon that helps me, is a low carb diet.
When I eat high-carb processed foods, I bloat up like crazy, so the next day, I will sometimes just eat things like meat, eggs, cheese, and a salad, and no carbs, and it seems to help that extra fluid just run back off.
I don’t know if this might help you or not, but it might be something that you would want to look into, and I can steer you into some online facebook groups for healing heart disease with low carb diet.

I started by eliminating the processed foods that are inflammatory from my diet after I had the heart ablation, because I wanted to do everything that I could to help my heart heal properly, and it turned out that a lot of the foods in my diet were inflammatory.
Inflammation causes pain (and swelling); so by eliminating these foods, I not only helped my heart to heal, I stopped a lot of the other pain (arthritis, etc) that plagued me.

I do good on this some days, and terrible on other days, but I figure that each day that i follow an eating plan that helps my heart, it is a good thing.

Rant all you want, Gloria. We all understand... and many of us are going through similar things. I always fall back on Bette Davis's quote, "Old age is no place for sissies." So true.

I was struck by the irony of my whiney thread, since I went in for my blood work and my primary doctor detected my heart "PVC." So this annoying checkup might have found the beginning of a heart condition for me. Guess I need an attitude adjustment!! :D

Oh, and one of the first things my cardiologist did during my time with him was to listen to my heart and lungs, then check my hands, feet, and lower legs for any signs of swelling. I think many heart conditions have swelling as a "bonus." :(

Thank you. Yes even the meds cause some swelling. This all started about a month ago ŵhen he changed one med dosage and eliminated another two. The Laskis was added last week. So wondering if the med switch is issue. My heart had been looked inside of outside and all corners..still and with m me moving..so I just don't know.

@Yvonne Smith ..yes I know about the carb issue and agree. For the most part I don't think we eat very much processed stuff..not much boxed or canned items.
I even make our on lunchmeat items most of the time. Granted still room for improvement I am sure.

Sorry you are going through this, Gloria. Have you googled side-effects of those medications? I hope you can discuss the problems that started with the Rx changes with your doctor. Unfortunately we have to be our own health advocates these days.

Nothing really...you just lay there...might ask you to feel breathe and hold a couple times. Nothing painful. :)
