Everything in Florida is expensive, possibly not as high as California though. I really haven't checked on costs. She thought it would be like a nursing home environment, not the individual private living space and nice eating facility like you have. I'm really glad I joined the forum and got the information you posted. So, THANKS!!! It is now a viable option. My parents are quite comfortable financially and have great insurance. I can physically take care of them, but I have very little medical knowledge.
Yes, at her age way to dangerous to get her off those sodium blocking meds. When I came off them, I ended up not sleeping for 3 days and in the emergency room for 20 hours. I was 60 then. It would probably kill me now. Give her a hug for me and tell her I understand and care. I may end up in an assisted living place when I am in my 80's. Trying everything to avoid it, but one never knows.
@Lon Tanner So sorry for all the health issues you have been burdened with, life can be so filled with hardship. Very happy to hear the positive results you've received. Hope it continues so you can continue enjoying life. Focus on keeping well.
@Lon Tanner Geeze, I realize they can only do tests so fast, but what a long time for you to have to wait. I'm sure you are feeling quite anxious about it.
I got my results from biopsy in 2 days the MOHS surgery in 3 hrs time frames all maligent aggressive melanoma. Then spread into lymphnodes. From 1st discovered to surgery and cut out 4 days here.
As you age and your skin thins out, these basal and squamous cell cancers pop out all over the place. I have a cream my dermatologist prescribed for me to get rid of any that present themselves. Being a nurse, I know the symptoms and don't even wait for a biopsy, just add the cream and thankfully, they get lost.
Doctor's office called me this morning and I will start having 5 minute Radiation Treatments starting tomorrow at 4:15 PM for my four new skin cancers. In past years my Dermatologist would just cut these skin cancers out but now that I am taking a daily Blood Thinner med, simple radiation is less invasive. My medical history over the past 85 years has contributed quite a bit of money to the retirement plans of many medical and pharmaceutical professionals.
sorry to hear that Lon, and I know you've gone down this cancer road before, but it doesn't make it any easier I'm sure, so I hope it a simple pain free process for you...
