@Herb Sutton. Apologies for not replying sooner. I have returned to revive the thread as I just love selling my country to you Americans. Someone once told me that Americans were the most insular people on the planet. Can not believe that's the case today as all y'all here seem very interested in Australia. If you have any questions Herb dont hold back.

One of the most interesting places in South Australia is Kangaroo Island set just off the SA coast. It has been in the news lately due to the devastation wildfires that razed large areas of the island. Before the fires this is how Kangaroo Island looked.

I would truly love to see a koala in its native surroundings. I have a friend whose daughter works for the Australian government. Something in the pharmaceutical capacity.

    You like this thread Lois?

@Lois Winters. I can tell you Lois they are difficult to find in their native habitat as they perch hi in eucalypts and are slow moving. You are better off seeing them at an American zoo if you have not already seem them.

When I said koalas move slowly.. actually they rarely move as the eucalypt leaves they eat makes them close to comatose.. at the very least drunk.

Anything specific you want me to post Lois.

Craig, this is a picture of one of our bears, (I know a Koala is not a bear), who is really drunk. He broke into a cabin and drank all that was in the liquor cabinet. 17559969348_2b0c937815_b.jpg

I do want to know how Australia is faring now that you've had a bit of rain. Has it eased the burden on the firefighters any? Again, our news is consumed with the impeachment trial, and Harry and Meghan. Heaven help us, but I think Australia's fate is more important as I doubt my president will lose his job. He may lose his mind, however. As for those ex-royals, well, good luck to them.

Australian tourism got a shot in the arm yesterday with the first tourist boat to dock at the island since the start of the wildfires.

Australia is no longer seen as a culinary backwater compared with the rest of the developed world. With the influx of many world peoples Australian cuisine now has a distinct international flavor. One food that remains quintessentially Australian is the plain old meat pie. There is a ditty that goes like this "meat pies, kangaroos and Holden cars". And the most famous meat pie sold in Sydney since 1945 is Harry's Cafe de Wheel Pie & Peas. These days entrepreneurial Australians are opening the eyes and palettes of people the world over by taking the traditional Aussie meat pie beyond our shores..
