You stated that it was against the law to be a Commie and that was why a Great and loved American by the rest of the world was abused.

You are entitled to your view and there's no harm in questioning that view either, but to 'assume' you have ulterior motives
is 'not' acceptable

 

You rely on Wikipedia for your information which is not always very accurate. However, you insist that the U.S. has classified her persona non grata because of her color which could not be further from the truth. While she has been lauded here and abroad for her talents, she also was a trouble maker and caused embarrassing scenes quite publicly which caused her own people to criticize her behavior. The FBI has a file on her political activities but, chose not to arrest her. Better to deny her citizenship. She had a pretty good life abroad with her diverse family.

She did but being black have a better life abroad and respected and loved in France and the UK but do wonder if she had a hope in coming the land of the Free and would be respected in her homeland

This entire thread is pointless as far as I am concerned. If you had simply posted your admiration for Baker's accomplishments which is fine, however, you snidely intrude into what she did in or said about the USA, which is something quite different and decide to also be vulgar about it all. Walter Winchell was a NY columnist who broadcasted weekly. He was very popular during WWII and was listened to by millions. I remember him well. Like him or not, I would not use your language in describing him. Yes, we are the land of the free but the manner in which you use it is most offensive to Americans. I personally nor would my peers dream of being so snide about the U.K.

As for my own opinion on the matter, it’s an American problem and at present, doesn’t have a derned thing about the color of her skin nor, if the truth be told, does it really concern anyone from any other country.
