I stand by the following guide Ina ... it's an old article, but good guidance I think. http://www.healthcastle.com/goodcarb_badcarb.shtml
Thank you Bonnie, I read the article, and I'm doing fine with my veggies and fruit diet. I also eat eggs, shrimp, and maybe a hamburger steak every now and then. Wasn't today a beautiful day around this area?
Yes, it sure was Ina. ... got up to almost 80 over here. I remember you saying that you stay in away from the sun/heat. I'm just the opposite.. I'm out in it every chance I get. Today I raked leaves (it never ends) and mowed my backyard. And worked on my suntan while I was at it. My dogs and even the cat were sunbathing with me .. Great day!
Yes Bonnie, I too got outside. I have a condition called sun poisoning. It doesn't burn my skin, but it does poison my blood system and makes me very sick. I use to be like you about the sunshine, and I still love it, but it doesn't love me anymore. At one time every one knew I was Indian, or they thought me to be Mexican, because I was so dark. Now it seems my great-granddaughter has the same issue, and at a much younger age than I. I was 25 when diagnosed, and for a while I didn't believe such a thing could be. But it has just gotten worse each year. So I can only admire the sun now. I still can drive around in my darkly tinted windowed KIA though.
I've heard of sun poisoning and I'm really sorry that it affects you. You must do what keeps you body from harms way. I understand that. Different things affect all of us in different ways. The sun seems to help me with my aches and pains in my bones, or so I tell myself. ... and that Vitamin D factor.
In the United States, chitterlings are part of the African American and Southern culinary tradition commonly called "soul food." Chitterlings are carefully cleaned and rinsed several times before they are boiled or stewed for several hours. A common practice is to place a halved onion in the pot to mitigate what many regard as a very unpleasant odor that can be particularly strong when the chitterlings begin to cook. Chitterlings sometimes are battered and fried after the stewing process and commonly are served with apple cider vinegar and hot sauce as condiments. In colonial times, hogs were slaughtered in December. When slavery was practiced in America, slave owners commonly fed their slaves as cheaply as possible. At hog butchering time, the best cuts of meat were kept for the enslavers and the remainder, such as fatback, snouts, ears, neck bones, feet, and intestines, were given to the enslaved people.
Hey @Bill Boggs , did you find the fountain of youth? Your new avatar not only makes you look youthful, but you got so much "prettier" too. Can you share, or is it a very limited supply.
Hi Ina, Meet Rayma, my roommate and the good wife who keeps me going and in my eyes she will always look as pretty as she does here one winter day when we were out on a photo shoot together.
@Bill Boggs , then you too were blessed with one of the riches that life has to offer us. Not many are so fortunate as to end up with a lifetime companion that is enriching to both of participants. I would very much enjoy reading some of your early courtship days. I've been thinking of Michael's and mine lately.
hehe Hey now, I'm not picky, @Sheldon Scott ! I just gag at yogurt because it makes me physically ill and I don't know why. But raw meat, or pink meat... that's just not food to me. I'll eat just about anything... one of my favorite things is scrapple with maple syrup. Soooo good! And I've eaten souse but not real recently. (The PA Dutch kind, not sure if it's the same as the Latin/Caribbean kind or not.)
