Interesting fact about closed cases 90% recovered 10% died. https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/#countries Scoll up to the top. PS Vegas has closed all its Casinos
It turns out that people are stockpiling because they can't cook any meals. A family was asked outside a supermarket why their trolley was full of stuff. They said: We need all that because we can't cook. There has never been a need to cook at home since family members have always been having their meals outside our home. Now we are being forced to cook at home for the first time in years.
And, what to do about all of the Millennials-young folks who were on a beach in eastern Florida. There were thousands there! They are acting like "partying" is much more important than anything else. I think law enforcement should shut down all of the beaches and patrol to make sure nobody is on them. Put up Beach Closed signs and enforce that. Millennials think they are invulnerable, but they sure aren't.
Everyone at that age does. If you think back, you'll probably remember that you did too. When they decided to close the colleges, that was my first thought. I'm not at all surprised that Spring Break would go off as it always has.
As of last night our City now has two positive cases. There was also testing done at a testing site outside of our Cajun Dome yesterday... results aren't expected back for 7-10 days.
There are 8 cases in our county. One hospital will be operating a drive-through site for testing. You must be pre-screened by calling an 800 number. They don't list the criteria. If an individual meets the criteria they will be assigned an appointment. Patients may drive themselves, but if they have a driver, the driver must by non-symptomatic. In addition, the patient should be seated on the driver’s side of the vehicle in order to expedite collection of the specimen. Sounds like a walk in the park. LOL
Went to the pharmacy today to get my new medicine. Safety precautions: Just two customers were allowed to enter the large salesroom with two counters at the same time. New: large glass panes protecting the shop assistants working at each counter. Prescriptions to be shoved into a small slot which I did. Now the interesting bit: Of the two shop assistants protecting themselves through the glass panes one also wore a face mask and protective gloves while the other one was not. How can that be? Is the virus and protective measures just fake news because one was wearing a mask and the other one was not although they were working next to each other under exactly the same conditions? Hardly. They just had different ideas of what they considered appropriate in the situation. It was apparently up to them to decide.
Well, I’m back on the track of reporting what I believe to be the absurd aspects of human behavior during the virus. The first thing that comes to mind concerns a Scottish official who said that the pandemic is useful in that it culls the older people from hospital registries. In other words and the way I take it, she’s happy when old people die so they can use the beds for younger people. And I guess we have to have comment from the environmentalists just to give equal time to a group which values fish over humanity. It seems that one commentary allowed that the channels in Venice, Italy are much cleaner now that the boats are not running up and down stirring the water whilst another said that because of the slow down in industry in China, the air is much cleaner there. I mentioned the word, “absurd” in my first sentence because it seems that each commentary actually embraces the idea of sickness and death as a positive aspect for their own agendas.
There is a new trend on the news programs here where they try to report something positive about the situation at the end of each broadcast, hence the Venice waters and the smog in China. Among those stories are lots of stories about people helping others out, and businesses providing free food to older people, companies finding masks and donating. Maybe the take on it is different on other networks. Never heard about the Scottish official.
Why? Why?. San Francisco and Seattle are the two main ports of entry for people and goods from Asia. It stands to reason that they would be the epicenter. The only possible bearing that being,"Sanctuary Cities" would have on the situation, would be if they are having trouble delivering essential services, due to programs and funding being cut by the Feds as a punishment for their immigration stance. but we should never let a crisis go to waste when there are political points to be scored. It is not like these cities are coated border to border with a layer of homeless feces. There are distinct neighborhoods and area where this is a problem, but 90% is a clean and normal as your home. Your analogy is the same as an European being scared to visit us,because gun crime is ubiquitous, and violence on every corner.
Now this is unreal: Talked to my wife's sister last night and her and her daughter are still planning on going on their trip to Texas for a wedding early next month. They are reconsidering their travel plans. Instead of flying, to drive. They still want to stop here and see us. Wife and I have told her, fairly bluntly, not to. I told her "this wedding can't be that important, during this crisis we are in". She totally disagrees. She told me that they will just wait and see what happens at the end of this month. Even though we'd love to see both of them, since it's been a good 5 years since we've seen them, this is NOT the time to see them. One thing for sure, we don't want them to come there until this thing is over.
I took my life in my hands and went to Aldi's today for some things I can get more cheaply than elsewhere. On the way I saw empty parking lots at places of employment since they were not operating to keep from spreading the virus. Do you know where those people ended up? They were food shopping and a lot of them. So instead of spreading the virus at work, they will now spread it pillaging groceries. You can't win.
Hey folks, what about this stimulus check/money? Depending on income and number of people in family (living together), it could be a nice chunk of change. What ever it will be for us, we'll gladly take it.
I thought you were against socialism Cody! This giving money out is the most idiotic thing I have ever heard of. So 1k,1.2k, what are ya gonna do with it. Will it make any real difference to any of us? W'ere all old, mostly retired, mostly drawing pensions, mostly drawing Social Security. Our incomes have not been affected one whit. What they should do is remove waiting periods for unemployment, figure a formula for small business owners to collect some kind of periodic relief. If they are intending this money to stimulate the economy, then they are two faced once again. Stay Home distance yourself, but here is a thousand bucks go spend it. I won't buy groceries, or pay bills with my check, I already have money in my normal income stream for that. Nope my check will be going into my future boat kitty, 1200 bucks will help a lot.
Folks, like us, sure liked it when Obama done it in 2008. Neither of us get a pension, so, just send us the check and we'll say "thank you very much!". End of story!
