The shooting the other day has turned into a murder, as the victim has died. The victim was about twenty. The shooter was in his forties, and it was drug-related.
It is a beautiful day, weather-wise, although this time of the year is kind of ugly, visually. I took a couple of long walks today (short pants, tee-shirt, although everyone else I saw outdoors was bundled up like it was winter), and brought my camera with me on the second one. When the paper mill was built here, there was no town, but only two farms. The mill built most of the first houses. Unlike some mill towns, they were not built all alike. As a design featured, each of the houses built by the mill included a small stained-glass window, usually on the stairs leading upstairs. Only a few houses still have it.
Ken...…… Lovely pictures.. I noticed a few things.. Where is the snow ???? There is hardly any snow anywhere... Most of the streets are perfectly straight and long that are in the pictures.. Looks like a lovely town to live in... Not any traffic or people.. By the way,...… its about the truck on the roof.... What's with that ..????
The family who did the American Loggers television show a few years back are from here, and they tried to capitalize on the show with a restaurant. It closed within a year. Another restaurant opened there later, and it closed too. Both were too expensive and too slow. Someone told me that the kitchen was set up so that they could cook only one meal at a time. As for the snow, @Steve North, it has been melting quickly, although I still have plenty of it in my backyard. Today was short pants and tee-shirt weather. The old school building in the pictures is an assisted living facility now. A lady who used to attend our church says she's living in what was her fifth-grade classroom when she was a teacher.
You have a lovely town, Ken. It was warm in NJ yesterday as well and I had to fight with the powers that be to get a breath of fresh air. We are told to go out and get that in our lungs by the experts, but we were told that Corporate is following the CDC rules. Rubbish, they are treating us like a bunch of jailers. Unfortunately, we are getting rain today or I'd really raise the roof. By the way, when at home, my son wears shorts year round. Many of the guys down here do. In the coldest weather yet. I have to laugh, for I remember when my son couldn't wait to wear long pants like the men did.
It's not so warm today, but not bad. Long pants and a light jacket weather rather than tee-shirt and short pants weather.
