I like the idea of people being able to ask for help with things, like how to do something or how to figure something out, without it being derailed or sidetracked by jokes and off-topic stuff. I have seen some of that here, and think that it really adds to the forum. I was thinking of a forum in the Getting it Done category - it could be here, in the Help Requests forum, but this is more for asking for help with using the forum, and I'd like to keep it that way. Alternatively, I suppose we could just do what we've been doing, and ask for help in whichever forum fits the topic that we're asking for help with, but without the distractions. God knows, we have enough threads in this forum for jokes and photos and memes, and the rest of it, and that is as it should be. I don't have a problem with that stuff, but would like to also see more threads that stay on topic, particularly when someone is actually asking for help with something that couldn't be more easily Binged.
I have created a sub-forum for Weather under Science & Nature, rather than keeping those discussions in the News section. I might add natural disasters to that section too, making it Weather & Natural Disasters, to include things like fires and floods, but not bombings and mass shootings.
I've changed it to Weather & Natural Disasters. Besides the weather, natural disasters like wildfires, volcano eruptions, mudslides, and floods can go there, rather than the In the News section.
I would like to move "Energy & Fuel" out of the HOT BUTTON ISSUES category to EDUCATION & ENTERTAINMENT because I have a new topic that I want to add to HOT BUTTON ISSUES. Because I want to keep the number of subforums per category to even numbers, I will need one additional topic for EDUCATION & ENTERTAINMENT, if anyone can think of one. It's possible that one has already been suggested in this thread but I have to finish something up for work before going to bed. Alternatively, I could leave "Energy & Fuel" where it is and add a second additional topic to the HOT BUTTON ISSUES AREA. Perhaps, this one? Except that, if I went that way, I would probably call it one-on-one, and make it a sub-forum where two people (per thread) could debate any topic they like without interruption from anyone else, although others would be able to read it. Often, there are fewer fights when only two people are participating in a discussion. Just a thought.
I probably don't understand you when it comes to the difference between "boring" and "controversial". They aren't boring to me at all, but they are pretty controversial however.
I did not post them to be controversial, just informative What in particular do you find controversial?
