No, but this striking head in my photo is a German and was also inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame like Jake LaMotta and was named at 55 on The Ring magazine's list of the 100 greatest punchers of all time and was World Champion in the early 30s. He also defeated the Brown Bomber in New Yorkbecause he'd "seen something", i.e. spotted a weakness in the defense of his contender while watching films about him in preparation for the fight.
Yeah, its easy to get them mixed up (that is Schmeling and Dempsey). Don't you think they look at lot alike?
Yes, they sure do. Until a few minutes ago I didn't know Dempsey, though, and had added "German" to make it clear.
Oho, that's a no-brainer, Craig, and actually one for @Hal Pollner who adores him. It shows Ludwig van Beethoven who, though struggling with his deafness, once wrote to a friend: "I will grab fate by the throat, it shall never drag me down." I like that.
You bet he's one of my favorite composers...his 9th Symphony is a Home Run with the Bases Loaded! "Alle menschen werden Bruder!" Hal
