Do you know your Dr.? Do you go to a large practice where you are more likely to see an NP or other professional We choose to see a one man office. Our Dr. is an internist. Him his wife and one receptionist are it.. We have been with this guy forty years and he has not killed us yet. We get personal almost concierge service. We are both diabetic and have blood done every 8 weeks. He will call he house when he gets the results, even has called late evenings and Sunday afternoons. If either of us call the office, we will get a call back from him within a couple of hours. He called this morning. Our insurance has dropped one of my meds from their formulary, so he is changing the drug. He just called to let me know about the change and hat he had called it in to our pharmacy. I like the first name personal service, only thing is he likes to talk. I have had routine appointments run .45 minutes at times.
We haven't lived in one place long enough to know doctors for years. However, I knew my last VA doctor, in Florida, quite well and we got along great. But, since I have Medicare also, I didn't have any surgeries done by the VA, just labs and lab consultation by that doctor and my prescriptions from the VA. We knew my wife's PCP quite well. Other than a couple of times, I went with her each time she seen him. When she was called to see him, I went into the exam room with her. We had one major thing in common, we and him like pro-golf. Now that we are back living in Colorado, I'm getting to know my VA doctor and the same goes for my wife's doctor. And, as before, I take her to her doctor appointments and also in the exam room when he sees her. When this "virus" thing is pretty much over, we will have to find a good dentist and eye doctor.
I have a Oncologist, Rheumatologist,Urologist,Dermatologist, Internal Medicine PSP. Relationship with all is strickly Doctor/Patient.
I had a private practice physician until he joined a health care system so I followed him there. The system has patients rotate between a few doctors for scheduled visits which I didn't like at first but have adapted. Just one of them though is your "go to" doctor. They had me see physicians assistants a few times which I did not care for but not anymore. My doctor turns out to be a she as opposed to the former male doctor which is OK. She explains things well, inspires confidence and has a pleasant demeanor. The system also operates a medical school and sometimes students accompany the doctor, or if they are near graduation they come alone. I told one on leaving he was receiving an A+. He performed well.
My primary care doctor is an internist who claims to specialize in geriatrics. He has two offices. One with a partner in my town, and a second in a nearby town, probably with another partner. He shows up 2 days a week here. I've never had to meet with the other partner. He is great. Also likes to talk, and never rushes you out. This makes him run behind schedule a lot, and he has gotten some bad reviews for that (only). He's getting better about it. I usually want to get away faster than he does.
Our primary doctor is excellent. We moved over twenty miles away but keep going to him. It's been more than twenty years and he still has the same nurse too. I've had good relations with all the doctors I go to, most are in the same system and they communicate with each other.
I have known my GP's family for many years. He grew up in the town near me. He is a good doctor and listens to what I (and, I assume, his other patients) have to say. If he isn't sure of a diagnosis, he is quick to send a patient to a specialist. He once told me, "A man's got to know his limitations."
I have a Primary Care doctor whose specialty is Internal Medicine and he is the Conductor of my Medical Orchestra. He is in communication with my specialists to stay informed about my different treatments.
My Doctor is a General Practitioner from India named Geetha Reddy. She's attractive and very warm. We hug each other when we meet and depart. Hal
I know if dentists are included mine very well eat at their home often and take them fishing often through him I have got to know most of my others also but nothing like my dentist. I have most of mine private cell numbers and we call and do chat some, much more than a patient-doctor thing.
My Cardiologist is Indian and practices with his Twin brother. My Oncologist and Rheumatologist are also Indian.
