Ken... I never realised that.. I always thought I was north, but now I can see the true difference....
Really ??? How interesting... Go figure that you would be north with milder weather.. Different weather anyway.. Then why is the weather up here somewhat colder than what you have ?? We have Lake Huron which produces all kinds of weather like squalls and high winds.. Also Lake Superior is a wicked one and we often get some weather from there..
I grew up in the southern Upper Peninsula of Michigan and the winter weather is usually more extreme there. I've always thought it had to do with the Great Lakes.
Ken... your right.. Those huge bodies of water can create some nasty squalls and some weird weather.. Sault Ste. Marie is in a real snow belt.. They get more snow than Massey because of Lake Superior which is a nasty one.. Did you know that Lake Superior is the largest fresh water lake in the world ??? Did you know that Lake Superior is the deepest fresh water lake in the world ?? Don't know if you remember the ship the "Edmond Fitzgerald" that sank just off the shores of Sault Ste. Marie in a November squall.. It was a huge ship..
Massey has cancelled our annual agricultural fair this year due to the pandemic.. It is the largest fall fair in Northern Ontario.. Our village of just under 1000 people welcomes about 10,000 visitors to the fair.. it is a big money thing for us.. it is always the third week-end in August..
I'm sure you have checked it out.. We love it up here and wouldn't consider ever moving to a big city anymore.. Basically, we like breathing air that hasn't been breathed before...……... Clean air and clean waters..
There's one place on Earth where you'll be looking South no matter which way you turn. It's the North Pole, pilgrims. Howell
nope...…. sorry Hal... I keep on looking north all the time...….. NEVER SOUTH...…. I an at the south pole.....
Still we don't have any cases of the virus in our region.. Yes, we take super care by wearing masks, keeping our distance, and washing our hands with sanitizer.. The weather lately has been super hot with daytime temps up around the 35c mark.. Unusual for up here..
Massey has cancelled the annual Agricultural Fair that has been going on here for the past 110 years due to the virus.. With our population of just under 1000 people, the fair draws up to 12,000 visitors and it is a major event for our village in $$$$…..
You won't believe this.... Yesterday (Friday) at our fairgrounds, we had our first... Drive-in Movie... ever... in Massey.. There were about 75 cars which is fabulous for our small village.. They played the movie.. Grease.. which is a classic and a family movie.. I remember drive-in movies back in the 1960's but not recently.. No window speakers like they used to have, but you tune in a certain frequency on your car radio for the sound.. It drew people from 100kms away..
You won't believe this one either.... Massey had for the first time ever..... its first...…... MURDER.... Yes, someone who was on some sort of drugs got a hold of a gun and shot their spouse.. Evidently there was an argument or fight before this happened.. Domestic violence is dangerous.. The couple were known to be problematic and they both took drugs.. When the police arrived, they refused to give up the weapon so the SWAT squad was called in.. finally they surrendered and they were arrested.. Meanwhile, we have 2 young children without any parents.. They were taken in by their uncle and aunt for now.. This is the talk of the village.. You can imagine what conversations are going on around here....
