@Bobby Cole Remember Obama's "Beer Summit"? Police responded to a 911 call by the neighbor of a Harvard professor friend of Obama's. Apparently the professor forgot his keys and was struggling to get inside his home, and the cops showed up to make sure the house was not being robbed. Of course the "professor" did not thank them for being there to protect his property...he got arrogant, refused to show his ID and gave the cop the old "Don't you know who I am/I'll have your badge" routine. The man claimed to being harassed because of his skin color, but his own neighbor is the one who called the cops on him!!! The President of the United States went on national TV on this low-level issue and declared "The police acted stupidly." Not only had this particular cop received awards for his work in "the black community," he also did this while Obama led up front from behind:
Yes, I do remember the incident quite well. I believe Obama supplied 3 types of beer to the threesome summit. I have always wondered how such a trivial event made it to the White House? Surely, there were other more than qualified incidents occurring throughout the United States which might have been even more dramatic. Somehow though, the whole scenario was indeed not only a foretelling of events to come but also how much focus there would be upon the police and the African American community by the new President.
Just having a Potty-mouth does not make a conversationalist, @Ed Marsh , which is something that a person who attempts to pass themself off as a scholar should totally already be aware of.

As far as I am aware, I have never used any language here that I would be hesitant to use before my own kids or students in class. Now, if you are referring to the present occupant of the White House and his language, I would say that "potty mouth" is being very generous when referring to him., I think in the present occupant's case, his using vile language is a strong way of expressing a weak mind. Then, comparing apples to apples wouldn’t be out of reach then would it? I seem to remember when Biden was caught on a hot mike dropping the F bomb in front of congress. According to your definition again, would it then be a good reason to submit that Biden has a weak mind therefore ineligible to run for office? On the other hand, wasn’t it Winston Churchill who had such bad language that his parrot learned it and often repeated it long after the death of Churchill? Note: I am not condoning the use of bad language but it doesn’t necessarily mean that the user of such language isn’t intelligent. Matter of fact, we used to have a gentleman here whom I know is certified with a 180+ IQ but has a very bad habit of mixing his harsh adjectives and vulgar expletives into a conversation. I am sure that when that bass got away the other day you used some very, very harsh language other than balderdash or drat. Ah yes, weak minds and all of that!
Good morning to all- Bobby, I suspect that in the case of the present occupant, he uses vulgar language because most of the vulgar and dirty words are less than two syllables- and that's about his level of function. Look, we're just barking in a barrel here. What we say makes very little difference except to make us each more firm in our thoughts and convictions. I hate tRump and no amount of words can change what I know about him. I hope that enough people have had enough of his nastiness and lack of leadership to vote him and his supporters out so we can get on with making our country a better place for all of us. Note that I’m not trying to change your mind Ed. But what I AM trying to do is for you to bring some actual facts to the table. If you were to ask your senior students to bring in a report on whatever subject and they brought back pure opinion and what they had “heard” instead of some actual research, you’d flunk them.
